while having "****" in the novels is disrupting and cancer i find that the "son of a beach" types arent that bad, it's a bit amusing

Don't they usually have some letters of the word revealed? Like s*x? hmm I guess sometimes they do just have ** instead of the word. but usually thats how it is in the raws

 

yes, but saddest ones are the ones with one star or twos where you cant even guess what word is supposed to be there...

 

some do reveal and that's when translator does censorship but when it's ** that's author i guess but not evengiving tiny bit of hint ruins whole novel because no one would want to read half-a**ed novel...

it completely ruins the flow when you're reading because you have to pause and go like "the fuck is he trying to say"

 

I believe they have a program on the site, that auto censored. Words like sex, ass, 18 and things like that. It is problem because it does it in the RAW format so they translate with it. The thing is it is hosted in their country and they have to follow the law and censor everything.

 

The strongest system is censored, so much so that a character is written out of it.

Maybe it's the author getting lazy and trying to make us use our imaginations instead of the author's.

 

and the most interesting thing is this line is censored "exposing more than half of their snowy white **, and bright red ** was indistinctly visible underwater." this is from Womanizing mage.. guess what's supposed to be in **.. and things like "Breasts","erect", etc.. arent censored *clap* *clap* *clap*

 

You only read translated novels, right? Never raws or (unedited) MTL?

Probably every chinese novel you've read has censored words in the raws, some novels might not have it in every chapter, but usually there's at least a couple. (as in, a couple of censored words in every chapter.)

TLs and editors tend to either pretend like there never even was a word there or fill in the gaps. Some leave them in though, usually translators that try to still translate it but it's too vague to know 100%. (I've seen a couple of times where TL put a footnote mentioning that they're not sure what it was supposed to be etc.)

 

yes but the thing is, be it from author or from translator, for me as a reader it doesnt have that much of an importance, i love story, i follow story and i follow novel as a whole, i love every element of it, but it gets ruined whenever they censor words, making it unrecognizable,why even write ero novel if you are going to censor the lewd words,i just dont get it, it's like having sex without touching each other...

 

The author's don't censor it themselves, it's qidian's system when they upload the chapters to the site. I don't know 100% since I'm not a chinese author on qidian, but you can get a rough idea just by reading chinese raws and every once in a while there will be an author's note complaining about it lmao...

Also, the times when there are humans who actively censor the novel is when the Author get contacted by qidian staff or w/e and is told to rewrite parts of the novel, as it happened with GE (grasping evil) recently.

 

That's why i hate them.

Maybe there's it's something that can't be translated or translators not sure. although i'm not sure though cause i'm also not not one of em.

Yeah, many stories have whole scenes cut out of them because of censorship so it's kinda like watching a 50s movie or something. *kiss* Then... fade to black and it's the next day.
