But isn't Qidian, broken to its simplest elements... is basically Chinese Yen Press?

by simplest elements you mean a business, because yes that is what a business is. However the two companies and how they are approaching taking a monopoly are completely and entirely different. Yen press just DMCA'd everything while Qidian is illegally taking back what they originally signed for until they got well known with a slightly good impression then stab everyone in the back.

The founders and original peeps must have been idealists that wanted to do some good things.

The inexperienced monkeys involved with internationalising it however are obviously 3rd-4th+ generation or recent hiers who are only working for their pay checks.

It's a sad sight to see some inexperienced retards totally destroy the image of a company that was probably started out with respectable ambitions.

No, they are trying to become Yen Press. They can never actually become Yen Press because of initial circumstances such as already widespread piracy in China etc ..

I only know one thing about Qidian and that is - "making a wrong move" how about making a new meaning for Qidian? If I say "Qidian" then it means "making a wrong move"

What are my thoughts on Qidan?

Earlier today I was summoned for Jury Duty. I was happily reading the novels in my reading list (using the free internet from the Courthouse) when I tried to open Qidan International's site. lo and behold IT WOULDN'T OPEN, as if it was blocked or I was unable to access the site.
[Mind you this is while I was in the waiting room for the hearing to start, not while the case was going on.]

I had no problem accessing GravityTales, WuxiaWorld, and VolareNovels. So my thoughts were something along the lines of...

1. is QI in a domain I can't access using the courthouse internet?
2. Is there something on that site that the courthouse internet didn't allow me to view?
3. Is the QI site associated with Malware/Spyware that would stop the courthouse internet from loading it?
4. Or I could just be paranoid and since it's a Chinese site it wouldn't allow me to access it.

EDIT: I later took off my Wifi and loaded it with my 3G and Qidan International loaded just fine.

 

china blocks banned websites from people inside china, not the other way around. it's most likely just shit servers on their end.
