Recently, I began to notice that it takes about 3 minutes to finish a chapter. It used to take 7 minutes so that question is, has your reading speed improve since you started becoming a member of the web novel community?
you're probably just skimming unknowingly because some stuff gets really repetitive after awhile especially if its the same genre. i.e xianxia o.o bet you can't beat my reading speed though... I look at the title and i'm "done" reading that whole chapter xD lately I've been doing that with TMW for like the last dozen chapters or so cuz too lazy to read the rest =/
True. I used to think it was that the chapters were shorter but then after while others realised it was me
I read slowly Mostly because while reading my mind tends to wander off and think about other things like when the story talks about the economy and stuff like that I think of the sale they are having on onions at the market today which I probably should have went to instead of reading
My reading speed depends on the genre and pace of the story, i sometimes read fast when it's fighting scene to make it look like their making fast moves.
Nope... But that's because I've been a bibliophile a lot longer than web novels exist, it simply made my hobby cheaper and less space-intensive. Thus my reading speed has always been somewhere between fast and "damn, that book was too short" Also: chapters are a rather bad thing to time your speed, the amount of information highly varies due to style and length
Sometimes it does. Well, I skim through ones I am not as interested in so I can't say anything for sure.
For me it's about that time too, except for LMS that i usually take 15~~20 minutes, i love LMS but some parts are too boring for me.
It varies... • Writing style...It depends on how the author writes... Some authors tends to make us wander for a bit while some goes directly to the point... • Language,,, TBH im a slow reader when reading japanese characters... It took me 3 days to finish 2 vols of mahouka. • MTL ... I dunno if im slow or fast but,,, it took me a week to MTL 1000 chapters of bringing a farm...
I guess you learn to pick up the important and interesting text from the repetitive nonsense they usually spout out.
Learned to speed read back in highschool ironically from laziness. Now its hard to turn off. But if you consciously slow down reading books can be a long enjoyable time again. Kinda like savoring the words na mean?
Ehh? Reading speed is mostly meaningless its reading comprehension that actually matters. Also as someone else already pointed out the spead people read at greatly varies depending on what they are actually reading. But no I have not had any change personally since I've loved reading since I first learned how.
