Gonna wait on Seki to do his chapters tbh his are far better and have some effort put into them, while QI's are just thrown out willy-nilly, i can only assume they are going to keep spamming them out till Seki gives up the translation, then well get the same lower grade translation once a week or so.

 

They can just DMCA Seki

 

In the end it depends on what Seki wants to do. If he just doing it for fun and not trying to make money DMCA hardly matters, just look at Jap light novel scene. Ofc if he wants to make money than its a different story, after all the rights to the novel still belong to Qidain in the end and as much as they suck it's their novel.

 

I don't think you get what DMCA means, bad quality or not, the novel is their property. You can distribute their property without permission.
There is a reason Baka Tsuki is like a ghost town.

 

Yes Baka Tsuki is a ghost town yet all those novel that are DMCA are all still being translated by translator and released via other means. You can still find translators releasing epub and pdf of each novels as they come out even though they were DMCA off Baka Tsuki. Sure they can't make it more public and possibly make some money off of it but nothing is really stopping them from continuing to translate if its just a hobby for them.

 

I am pretty sure a DMCA can affect Patreon too, so I don't think it is worth it.
Unlike the Japanese, companies Qidian is involved in this community and will know if the novel is still being translated.
If I was Seki, I would pick another novel

Well, hungry translators cannot translate. Also, it is the money that made Chinese translations to have frequent releases (there are exceptions like World of Cultivation of course)

 

It doesnt really matter who translates. Seki is better quality, so it would be best if he can continue. However, if the worst happens and he is forced to stop translating, we can just head on over to that magical subreddit that posts QI releases in pastebin links. Either way we can avoid giving QI any traffic. Downside being we will need to suffer through QIs meh quality translations.

Btw, we are readers, not free editors and proofreaders for you. The burden of increasing the quality of translations shouldn't be on readers, but the ones being paid to translate

 

Btw, your claim is most likely false, for several reasons.

First off, let me quote RWX for something. The lowest market rate for decent professional translators is around $0.11 for a professional Chinese to English translator, which for a 3000 word chapter comes out as around $330 USD.

QI is offering rates less than one eighth of this for the jobs they're offering. No "professional" translating company is going to take these low rates.

Also, with the low rates they're offering, I see no reason a "professional" company would decide to take the numerous nonsense clauses QI has in its contracts.

Also, most importantly, We've already established your translations aren't the best. Please explain to me why a "professional" company needs someone like you to tlc them. Seriously, are they any good?

Most likely, you guys just hired a very shady company and are trying to pass it off as "professional".

it seems like you're just using an MT to do it then changing the odd thing by hand or using a pre-set dictionary mode and dumping the pages out without any type of real proofreading ...
