and there you have it, he was indeed selling the soap for cheap because he had no idea it was so expensive.
it's probably artificial scarcity too, as in, the king city alchemists COULD make more, but don't because it lets them claim low supply.

Or maybe they don't know a efficient method to produce alcohol? Pure alcohol is very hard to produce, having to go through multiple complex chemical processes that required specialized equipment. Also, production at small scale means high costs, and I don't anyone in the world can do industrial scale processing as Roland do. While I do think they are overpricing the perfumes, that's probably not as much as you're thinking.

It was mentioned in a previous chapter what's behind the mountains and it was given general presentation of the geography.

I'm waiting to see what criterias the prince will use to decide what refugees can come to live in his city. Would he be able to stop undesired 'guests'? If yes, how?

To think they don't know how to produce alcohol. The rate of technology there is really low.

Maybe the author doesn't completely know where the story is going to end or what events are going to happen later. You can just come up with new ideas later when you need them.

True. The most rudimentary type of alcohol is made out by letting fruits and/or grains to ferment by themselves. Only later did humans learned how to produce a better alcohol by paying attention to other cobditions like the quality of yeast, the quality of fruits/yeast, the quality of stoorage and so on.

No. I think that alcohol exists from the begining of humanity. I think that the first alcohol that was produced by humans was actually produced accidentaly.

Ok, the aswer depends on what you consider "alcohol." Alcoholic beverages like ale and wine are basically pre-historic. Some experts point at around the neolitic age, 10.000 b.C, as the age where we started creating them. Most probably we discovered it at around the same time we switch from hunter-gathering society to a agriculture society. Now, the pure alcohol is a more dificult process. The bizantine alchemists discovered destillation process for water in the 1st century a.C, but the first clear evidence of destillated alcohol we have is in the 12th century a.C Italy. In 1500 a german scientist published the first manual on destillation, and then during the 16th century the first spirits like whiskey started to appear on the market, but it was only in 1651 that the first book detailing industrial methods of production for destillation was published.

So, alcohol beverages started with human civilization, but pure alcohol is something that we only started to see after the Renascence in Europe. In the East world spirit alcohol was widely know as of the Yuan Dinasty (13th~14th century), and some archeological evidence shows that it started about the same time the greek scientists of the Byzantine Empire had discovered it at around the 1st century (probably because, as recent discoveries of chinese bodies buried in 2nd century London and the involvement of greek sculptors in the making of the Terracota Army, the west/east were more linked in the ancient world than we had know until now).

With the author putting two chapters a day? Yeap. Guess the story will end before it happens.

That not a bad thing, is it? It alot better then some webnovel where not only do you have to wait for translation, but also for author to go off hiatus.

Edit: If they ever decide to go of hiatus.
