Obviously because I am a Chinese, so I had to translate it from the Chinese version of Arifureta.

If people can translate Japanese/Korean/Chinese into English, why can't they translate it to another language? :p

What some of us are concerned about is pacing and time for translation. there's a lot of chapters and they are big. If it would take a long time for a complete re-translation, it's a better option to finish translation of the series first before you re-translate from the start.

If you're taking the time to retranslate it, why not translate the Light Novel version? It will surely be more polished (and include new and revised scenes) than the web version. I can't imagine that the LN hasn't been translated into Chinese already.

well as I've stated previously, perhaps on some other thread, starting off without knowing the terms might be slightly challenging~

E.g. The character name, monster name, places name, author's style of writing, etc

Seconding this. The LN version is more polished and has some extra scenes not included in the original WN.
I'm pretty sure there's some CN translations of the LN out there considering Arifureta is quite popular.

Funny how what I heard was completely the opposite though.

I've heard the Light Novel version are actually done by amateur writer xD

I'm not quite sure what you mean, it's the same author, it's just now been through an editor and publishing company that makes sure quality is up to their standards. Amateur typically refers to self-published works (such as web serials), the actual book version should be much better.

well from what I hear, Light Novels are actually written by amateur writers plagiarizing the original author's work.

Of course, with permission from the original author.

    On a scale of 1-10, you're an uninformed 10.

A light novel is just authors work that has gone through a publishing house and the editor has told the author were to polish his work.

Also I would have agreed to you translating even without the other translators premission.

go for it, but please go for the long haul i hated the fact it seems to been picked up and dropped over and over again.....would love to read how the story starts and end from one translator and not 3 or 4 different ones

Though I agree the quality was bad it was still understandable. Though if you want to retranslate it you're free to do so, but I think it will be more efficient if you continue from where it was left off first then retranslate from the start.
Well, you'll still be able to achieve your 4 objectives either way. But you might get busy and drop halfway at least you'll be able to finished to WN. hypothetically that is.

Thank god you guys are more constructive that the reddit bunch. That thread is just a bunch of talk about how Arifureta sucks.

It's a side project because I have exams coming up and Silva can't dedicate as much time since he also has RL stuff and translating of World of Immortals to do. After I finish my exams in the summer, I can up the pace.

I would get my hands on it if I could, but the first volume of LN is getting released sometime later this month in Taiwan. Since neither SIlva or I live there, it could prove troublesome.
