The author of HotD, Daisuke Sato, had passed away on 22nd March due to heart disease at the age of 52. Well, many guys really like HotD because it's basically a fanservice series and many dislike it for that reason too. It seems like the possibility of HotD being continued has dropped to zero. His brother, Shouji Sato, is still alive. Worry not. Source
That's hard to believe... Dam and I just started reading his work too.. I don't think I should drop it though Didn't high school of the dead ended in 2013 tho?
Well in saddened for the loss.. I enjoyed the anime, never got into the manga before a DMCA was dropped on it..
and i was always left wondering, why is the manga chapter not updated for years? sigh, i hope oda manages to complete one piece before he takes off
Rest in peace, I've never read the manga and only watch the anime version of highschool of the dead though
i have two questions regarding HotD. is the series finished? and did they state a reason why the series isn't updating?(i searched back then but i only know rumors) i saw a post about HotD having a novel but is it even legit?
HoTD unfortunately didn't really have a foundation for a story that could've lasted several years in-manga, unless the group somehow a) survived for a pretty long time, becoming expert zombie hunters b) found some sort of atleast almost safe haven and then actually brought up a 2nd generation . I mean, teenagers trying to escape a zombie apocalypse sounds good, but they didn't really have an accurate idea on how to do it other than take things as they go, which at best could work for a few months if incredibly lucky. No offence to the author, and I do miss a continuation from where it left off, but he did write himself into a corner, so HoTD would eventually have come to some sort of end unwillingly or ended prematurely, but this way most people can atleast accept it ending, because what are they going to do otherwise? As for the other novels mentioned in the article, I have no recollection of reading them. And no, i'm not trying to diss the author because he died, it's just something that struck me at the mention of HoTD. As I cannot know which religion he followed, the most probable ones being shinto ,buddhism or christianity in Japan, I cannot be sure of what to wish for him afterwards.
