So I recently (30 minutes ago) bought a ticket and booked a time with a friend to do a first dive course with a subsequent solo dive at 3000 feet AGL. I'll be honest, I've got a pit in the bottom of my stomach thinking about the jump day but also a big ass smile on my face. I'm excited but still nervous which I assume is normal when you plan to jump out of a plane. So I'm asking a question to any experienced skydivers there are in NuF. You guys got any pre-jump tricks to keep nerves down? Or just any tips and tricks to ease my mind before I take the course in 2 weeks? I'd also love to hear some personal experiences about your jumps. To all those people who never have or never will go skydiving feel free to comment on how crazy you think I am, how I'm gonna turn into a pancake or just in general any thoughts you have on the topic. Have fun with it.
HELL YEAH! U lucky bastard! I wish I could go skydiving(OR BASE jumping?). I have a brother who is interested in Building his own Paramotor at some point as well. Meh, Paramotoring is nice and all, but nothing gets your blood pumping than free falling. (P.S Please add a "HELL YEAH" option to the Poll)
It's great fun. I've only been tandem because it's really hard to find places that do solo dives here, and I don't really have any tips since it's strangely not that scary when you know the guy who packed your parachute has to use it too
....You know you have to free fall before you pull your chute right? You don't just open your chute directly from the plane.
Well... it's more fun to fly than dive imo... unless you just love the thrill of the free fall... I'll do it someday definitely though~~
I would love to. Unfortunately, I'm afraid of heights, so I will more than likely cause myself and the parachuter to plummet to our deaths because my panicky body made it impossible for the other guy to pull the parachute in time. Or I will faint.
Not to ruin that idea for you but hitting water at high speeds 250 foot jump into water is more than 95% likely to kill you. I'd rather take my chances trying to find a pile of Hay or something on land.
my problem is not with skydiving itself but how lax it is in the states they are to lax on safety and checking chutes you just have to wait till a whole plane full of people become art on the ground due to negligence by a skydiving operator
