the middle ground would've been if they kept the same relationship before the whole master and disciple scene. You can still backstab regardless of disciple or master status. Its not like a blood oath where a death defying soul contract is signed.

 

since you heard that he has a harem, do you know whos in it? (is it an actual harem or is it just one of those "girls that like the mc but mc is oblivious" harems?
