    Hello, everyone.

This is my 4th thread. Sorry that I become active only recently.
    I just want everyone's opinion.

How will you react if your favorite novel is suddenly halted?
The reason can be either from author (discontinued) or from translator (no longer translating).

In my opinion, if the reason is from author, these are my reactions:
    1. If the author meets misfortune, I only pray for the best for the author.
The misfortune here can be sick leave, disaster, or the worst case... pass away.
(Zero no Tsukaima is a good example for novel and Doraemon for manga).
    2. If the author suddenly stops without reason, I'll be disappointed (e.g. Mad Snail of TDG).
    3. If the author decides to make new novel while abandoning the previous one (especially with good rating) without telling why, that's the ultimate disappointment.

If the reason lies on translator, these are my reactions:
    1. If the translator tells us beforehand (e.g. going to military training or university activities), I only pray another translator will pick the novel.
    2. If the translator suddenly goes missing, I'll be disappointment.
    3. If the translator picks new novel and abandons the previous one by telling good reason (the novel goes downhill and disappoints the readers), I can understand that and even leave the novel.
Example of this is Miss Rainbow Turtle on Acquiring Talent in Dungeon.
    4. If the translator picks new novel and abandons the previous one without notice, that's the ultimate disappointment.

Be annoyed for a while and get over it.

What I hate the most personally is a translator abuses the "unspoken 3 month rule" and releases exactly 1 chapter per 3 month. What a troll, especially if that person really defends his/her TL work and refuse other TL.

Loath about it for a day or two (weeks if I'm really attached to the novel) and get over it.

If it's cos of writer then I'll think oh well and move on. Like what happened with TDG. If it's cos of translator then it's a waiting game. I've got plenty of other novels to read in the meantime so while I will be disappointed, I won't be bothered too much. It'll get picked up by someone else eventually so it's all good~

I'll just cry and be sad as hell.

Since the writers have no obligation, translators even less, so I won't be mad at them, just sad.
Especially if I'm emotionally attached or really looking forward to it.
I mean I will look for other mangas/novels to fill the hole, but I'll still be conscious of it, I'll just place my obsession at the back of my mind and wait for a potential miracle without saying much.

As a mortal, this problem is something that beyond my understanding; it's as difficult as comprehending the Heavenly Dao. So, I'll just shrug my shoulders and moving on other novels.

Theres still hope as long as it isnt dropped by the author..
If the translator dropped it, depending on the language source I might go into mtl.
Its always sucked when no onr picks a dropped project tho...

If the reason is the author then there is nothing to do, I just move on.
If the translator drops it, then depending on how much I like that novel, I search for raws and mtl or just wait for a new translator to pick it up or search for the spoilers and satisfy myself with those...
There is little to no disappointment as I got used to the dropping of novels due to licensing of japanese novels...

if you are talking about fan translation, then it's fine for the translator to disappear abruptly without a notice. Because, irl problem may prevent them for doing so. There's an option to email them too.

Never happened to me because I mostly don't go back to novels I've reached the latest chapter in. I know I'm not the only one.

There are hundred novels, manga, anime that I'm still waiting for updates and never got one and there's nothing we can do about it except to move on to new things.

I just wait until someone else picks up, or if the previous translator picks it up again...

Really, there isn't much more for me, there is no disappointment there, I just read something else in the meanwhile.
