The latest novel by Skeleton Wizard added to NU. I've just finished reading and writing a review of this book

And I'm quite enjoying it. Though it's a bit rushed, other than his day to day encounters and survival in those first few weeks alone I don't feel I've missed anything important. If I had to say was something not expanded on that should have been was that the author glossed over how the MC learned of the fight between the races as they fought above his head... I mean we're they in the air space? Could a human tell from a few glittering lights that a fight is taking place beyond sight and sound? Even the robot doesn't seem capable of telling that as it seems more or less human in capabilities.

Other than that great novel. I highly recommend and look forward to MC calling more middle aged men Old-farts! Really wishing for an old-bastard or two.

MTR'd ahead... and the story turned very disappointing - instead of interesting interaction with alien planets we are presented with the totally boring and unoriginal school life and competitions.

WTF?! Military school, during war time, demands TUITION - instead of paying out STIPENDS?

Cause they have been at war for 800 yrs and its become a way of life not to mention path of glory and fame.

If a country paid stipends for 800 yrs no one would have it good cause the poor would flock to the military there would be no one to do mundane civil duties and not a great deal of importance would be. Placed on the well off.

Tendency to die in the field of duty balances off any monetary compensation quite nicely - at least for militaries that are at a high risk of engaging in active warfare.
In fact, people do everything in their power to evade being conscripted despite all the potential benefits.

That's not always true. In some families and countries serving in the armed forces is the highest honor. Don't forget they have metal suits and highly value military service.

Still doesn't explain the artificial barrier of entry that is tuition.

No. School needs money, but what government needs is cannon fodder (and it can always print money or add more taxes) - so that government pays for tuition and scholarship.

I'm starting to get addicted to this great western-feel novel, packed with actions and youth adventures.. totally a perfect novel for newbies and veteran who are tired of common xianxia...

Totally unlike the other CN which focus on boring cultivation building where they make weapons, pills, and practices arts which goes on without excitement..

    Love it!!
