    After reading all these RPG stories... does anyone find it strange how the actual "cliche" RPG story where the Hero seriously faces the Demon King doesn't exist?

    It's mostly on old RPG games no? Because it wouldn't make an interesting novel for being that straightforward.

    There was already some rpg based novels where the Mc's are the demon lords or they're on that demon faction

    They did exist.. as a background settings to start the novel up about an OP MC doing whatever he likes just because hes OP. Lol

    Of course it would if you write it properly. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings is plenty interesting.
    Dragon Maken War and Divine Throne are the only ones I can think of right now.

    After reading some demon king side story...
    I finally think Hero is kinda dick, dumb and hypocrite
    Under righteousness name ! You gangbang demon king with you and your teammates fully equipped with legendary stuff

    Oh and i think Kono Subarashii fits this too.
    Cause they just fought with the Demon Lord/King's generals but not the Demon King himself.
    Plus a lot of people find this hilarious.

    The Demon King is usually an actual king. The Hero's party usually has to fight through an army.

    Not really, I'm good with a novel as long you got OP mcs and an enjoyable story. I don't read RPG novels for that specific cliche.
    And the hero vs demon king thing gets boring and predictable so it's good to have a change.
    What I mainly look for in a RPG novel is either an OP mc or quick power growths.

    I agree with you completely. Sometimes I really just want a classic hero story and not the weird spins that everyone puts on them. At this point a classic hero vs demon lord done in a dramatic fashion would be a nice change of pace.

    Dragon Maken War, The Amber Sword, and Shen Yin Wang Zuo are the only ones I can think of that actually involve that fairly closely.

    Stories like Lord of the Rings are classics for a reason. If the story is told well it doesn't matter that it's a classic example. There are enough differences in characters, motivations, settings, and tone that can easily set them apart from each other.

    It does seem that if we really want these type of stories we have to play RPG's instead of reading books though which is annoying for people who like different types of media.

    some of them still follow the main troupes of Demon king vs hero tho.... with a twist tho.. like the time travel one i was reading last year before they lost their raws... tsye something reload?
