It was briefly talked about in the recent chapters, but if you want some more information, check the spoiler:

So the second brother is in jail because he has a hereditary condition that makes him go berserk and filled with bloodlust. It's a condition that happens every second generation (so someone in the generation of Wang Chong's grandfather had it, and then it skipped the generation of Wang Chong's father, and it appeared in the second brother). The reason why he is in jail is due to Wang Chong's grandparents feeling guilty. They know that his condition wasn't his fault, but they do not yet know of a way to cure him, so they can only keep him in a cell to protect him (from doing something that he'll regret in his berserk state) and protect others, hence why he is detained, instead of being executed.

As of where the raws are (~500 + chapters in), the second brother hasn't yet been released or cured yet. In fact, the upcoming visit is the only time he's part of the story (because there's a lot of content being covered, so I'm sure the author will come back to it at a later date). Anyways, based on the information shown during Wang Chong's visit, he will get his second brother released and use his Berserk state on the battlefield, and I'm pretty sure he has an idea of how to cure him, or at least knows how to keep his bloodlust in check.

    1. Yes. Kind of. So what happens is that Wang Chong plays chess with him, in order to get closer to him and obtain his approval, and due to his experience, promptly destroys the ex-Marshal in every single game. This goes on for a while, and they slowly bond. He tries to help the ex-Marshal get over his depression (with the death of his family), and it seems to be working. Whilst that is happening, Wang Chong goes and meets another person, whom he saves, befriends and acknowledges as master, so that he gets taught another inheritance. This inheritance is pretty OP, and is considered as part of the devil path (but MC is indifferent to it since he believes that there are no good/evil arts, only good/evil people).

However, at one point, someone whom Wang Chong knows is looking for him, finds him playing chess with the ex-Marshal, recognises him, and blows his cover (at that point both parties, despite knowing who the other person is, doesn't acknowledge either of their identities, they're just two people playing chess and bonding), resulting in the ex-Marshal going back into seclusion (up until that point, everyone believed that the ex-Marshal was always in seclusion, with some even believing that he had died, not knowing that he was in the local park area playing chess). Before he leaves though, he warns Wang Chong to be careful of the path he is taking, and that he should use his talents to help and benefit the empire (he can feel the 'evil qi' emanating from him due to the evil technique).

Later, some bad guys appear (the former disciple of Wang Chong's Master, who betrayed him) and goes after the Master (who was poisoned and had his cultivation crippled, and forced to start over). Wang Chong fights them off, as well as the ex-Marshal (who also helps, albeit in a more subtle manner). The ex-Marshal also leaves behind part of his sword intent/inheritance for Wang Chong, whom is able to learn from it.

TL;DR Yes, he gets approval, and gets some inheritance, but it's somewhat limited.

    2. It hasn't been shown yet. However, presumably, he gets stronger than her, then beats the absolute shit out of her in a duel. At least, that's what I'm hoping happens xD

    3. He hasn't introduced much. He helps introduce the idea of tariffs (if you haven't read the latest translated chapters already), his way of auctioning the Wootz Steel swords is a fairly modern concept, and he also introduces genetic modification/manipulation in order to get the best food crops and increase their yield. I think even the way he made the Wootz Steel swords was influenced from the modern age. He introduces the idea of stocks, and having shares in a business/clan.

More often than not, though, most of the things he does is influenced by the modern age (like the way he fights and commands as a commander, he uses concepts and his knowledge as a soldier from the modern age).

    4. Pretty much King Song ignores Wang Chong's advice to have a talk to King Shou, whom King Song believes is heartbroken and talking to him would only open up his wounds. Thus, the result is as you can imagine. The Emperor gets annoyed/pissed, and strips King Song of his position and power. Once that has happened, he rethinks Wang Chong's advice and ends up talking to King Shou, finding out that not only is he not bothered by the affair, he seems fairly cheerful and happy.

As such, he talks to Wang Chong some more, and implements a couple of his ideas to target and ally themselves with the Consort. Afterall, if she was to speak on their behalf, things would be much easier.

    - Wang Chong writes some poetry for her (she really loves poetry)
    - the people from King Song's faction are told that the circumstances around the Consort incident has more secrets involved, and that they should stay silent in the near future, as opposed to publicly voicing their opposition

Eventually, the Consort allies with King Song and the Wang Clan due to all of those efforts (in addition to the Consort's cousin recognising Wang Chong is the person who gave him money in the past), and King Song is given back some of his power and position.

    5. There's only a couple major battles that have been fought thus far.

The first is when the three training camps have been implemented. The surrounding nations recognise the danger involved with having training camps to find and cultivate the talents within the Great Tang Empire, and so they surround and ambush the training camps in an attempt to exterminate all of them. Wang Chong uses his wits and skills to successfully defend and then counter attack against the invaders (whom compromises of the Koreans and Mongols?). Then afterwards, they realise that they have Korean agents planted within Great Tang, and then wipe them out in an attempt to cripple the Korean military.

The second is when some of the foreigners within Great Tang are planning to revolt (it's the follow up/realisation of the foreign military promotion system that was talked about in the recent translated chapters). Some of the subordinates under one of the generals protecting the borders meet up within the capital. Some of their affiliates beat up Wang Chong's cousin (who recently came back from a voyage overseas), after they refused to leave the restaurant that they're meeting at. When Wang Chong realises that the affiliates are related to some of the big shots whom are responsible for revolting, he decides to murder them all. So he calls upon everyone he knows, and I mean literally everyone, surrounds the restaurant, and attacks them. Most of the affiliates die, but some manage to escape and regroup with others. A big battle ensues, and while Wang Chong had several chances at killing some of the big shots, the World Will/Strength of Destiny interferes and makes it harder for him to kill them (and thus interfere with destiny in a big way). Eventually the general protecting the borders arrives, gets pissed at Wang Chong for randomly attacking his subordinates, and gets both sides to back off (though he's still angry at Wang Chong due to his opposition to the foreigner promotion system, he lets him off due to his grandfather's face). Wang Chong reminds him to be careful of the foreigners under him in case they have other interests in mind, and things end there.

The third is what is currently happening in the raws where the Tibetans and Southern countries (Vietnam?) whom were subordinates/tributaries to the Great Tang Empire invade the southern borders of Great Tang after the general in charge of the border returns to the capital in order to get a position within the government, leaving the border to be protected by his subordinate chosen as his successor. In the original timeline, the 180,000 men stationed to protect the southern border is completely massacred, sparking the several wars between Great Tang and its neighbours. This time, due to Wang Chong's interference (stationing his father and elder brother to the southern border), as well as prior preparation (erecting a city in a strategic location with enough supplies to hold out for a while), of the 180,000 men, 80,000 manage to make it to the city. Wang Chong and some people he managed to recruit are part of the second wave of reinforcements sent to reinforce the survivors and fend off against the 500,000 combined Tibetan and Southern coalition (the first wave of reinforcements were blocked by the coalition's advance party and splintered after having their leader killed).

That's probably the major battles that have occurred. There are some other minor battles (such as Wang Chong's training camp examination where he and a couple others were sent to deal with bandits that were several thousand strong, and when foreign diplomats came, challenged and killed several of Great Tang's men), but that's mostly it.

That hasn't been explained yet, so it's still a mystery. The story will probably get back to it at some point though.

Pretty much her organisation was contracted to kill Wang Chong by someone (pretty sure it was the Yao Clan's younger generation, forgot his name, or perhaps it was his friend, the guy who Wang Chong owed money to and then sent to jail, can't remember, Su Clan???), and they sent her to do it.

However, presumably because she was just a disposable fodder in their eyes, she was taught a faulty cultivation method/attack style that would eventually kill her, so after she tries to kill Wang Chong, fails, and then realises that he can help her, she submits to him and breaks away from the organisation, pledging loyalty to him and working as his bodyguard/assassin/spymaster.

Because of his patriotic actions, he gets protected by the Emperor and is sent to a secret prison to spend a couple of months whilst people take up 2 camps, one that supports Wang Chong's criticism of the promotion plan, because it helps the Chinese, and the other who are against Wang Chong's criticism, because it's unfair to foreigners and wants him to be executed. The Emperor pardons him, and makes a compromise in the promotion system where foreigners can get promoted, but there will be a fixed amount or promotion that are reserved for the Chinese, so that the foreigners can't monopolise, the Chinese still have chances to get promoted, whilst the Empire can utilise talented foreigners.

As for the rebels, nothing has happened yet, aside from people getting more suspicious of foreigners. They haven't made their move yet, and there's not enough public evidence of them rebelling.

    1. Due to the preparatory plans made by Wang Chong for this upcoming war (sending his father and elder brother to the border region, building a new city/town in a strategic location, and helping prepare supplies), of the original 180,000 garrisoned soldiers of the Protectorate Army, the initial conflict against the 500,000 combined armies results in 100,000 soldiers who managed to survive (instead of being completely wiped out) by holing themselves up inside the city/town Wang Chong built. After learning of the invasion and the Protectorate Army's initial defeat, they send reinforcements of <100,000 men (can't remember the exact amount), but they get defeated whilst on the way by the enemy's vanguard (whose task is to stop reinforcements from reaching the city/town, and to loot/pillage/kill the local populace for additional supplies), who manage to kill the leader of the reinforcements, forcing them to scatter.

Whilst this happens, MC brings a thousand or two guards from several of the major families in the capital (he borrows a few elite guards from each family in return for giving them a Wootz Steel blade) and becomes the second wave of reinforcements. Whilst on the way to the city, he kills the small groups of the enemy vanguard whilst regrouping with the scattered forces of the first wave of reinforcements (using the tokens given to him by King Song and the former Protectorate General prior to him leaving to assume command). He then splits his men and assigns one part of them an important task, under the command of Li Siye, one of MC's recruits from the training camp, and who in the original timeline, eventually became a strong general.

At the city, due to the army's presence, the supplies start running out, and so the army decides to use an intense rainstorm as cover in order to leave the city and escape the enemy encirclement/siege. The army splits into 2 factions and leaves (one is commanded by the new Protectorate General, whilst the other is commanded by MC's father, who gains support after seeing the new Protectorate General's failure at leading, which resulted in so many casualties). MC brings his group towards the city and meets up with his father. At that time, his elder brother got sick/poisoned, resulting in his portion of the army being on the defensive. MC comes along, puts on his elder brother's suit of armour and leads his army in his stead, much to the surprise and worry of his elder brother's retainers (cause at this point in time, they still don't know about his skill in the art of war, and still mostly consider him a playboy). He utilises the archers and cavalry (as well as his own group armed with Wootz steel) to regain the advantage and allow the group to escape.

Eventually they find the new Protectorate General's army, catches up with him, and MC promptly uses his tokens to gain command. They lead the army to a new location on top of a mountain, where they are able to quickly set up a powerful fortress (using steel plates he got the blacksmith family to create when he made a deal with them). This is the location of the final battle.

Some tactics used by both sides:
Both sides plan a night raid, MC's side splits into two, kills some soldiers/scouts of the Tibetan army, and some soldiers/scouts of the Southern Countries, puts on their armour, and sneaks into the other army, killing a lot of men. After seeing MC's actions, allied army backs off from a night raid, otherwise they'd give MC another chance to cause chaos.

In a head on clash, the alliance sneaks one of their higher up commanders to infiltrate the MC's HQ, resulting in some no name casualties on MC's side, however said commander is forced back due to one of the commanders on their side getting forced into a corner by one of MC's schemes, so he goes to help/rescue him.

Alliance uses unique fire arrows/bombs (that they got from the Caliphate, who provided them with some help) to attack the fortress, however the fortress was designed to have bunkers where the army can safely stay to avoid the barrage. This results in the alliance sending in armoured war elephants (who are much, much bigger in this world, think the war elephants from Lord of the Rings), who wreck havoc and manage to pull down parts of MC's fort, and force the soldiers out of their hiding spots. MC uses some ideas from the modern world, and uses loud noises (think firecrackers) to scare the war elephants and cause them to be close to useless.

Eventually, the alliance utilises two of their advantages (preparation and numbers) in order to launch a two pronged attack - they rush the HQ from numerous angles in order to keep MC busy, whilst a small elite detachment break through a weakened side, poisoning the (limited) water supply that MC's army had (it was easier for them to prepare and transport grain and food supplies, but more difficult for them to transport water). MC's retaliation came in the form of his earlier detachment under Li Siye, whose task was to go behind enemy lines, and kill off their information network, as well as the food supply for the Tibetan army (the Tibetans were a people whose food supply mainly consisted of livestock, who followed behind the army) by introducing a plague that spread through most if not all of their livestock within a quarter of Tibet. However their army could somewhat make do, by leeching off of the Southern Army's food supply (however their food intake consisted mostly of grains and rice, and this difference resulted in the Tibetan army being weakened due to stomach aches and so on). MC's side is barely able to hang on, until MC is able to dig deep into the mountain and find natural spring water, and while it isn't enough for the army to last indefinitely, it added a couple more days at the least (since they didn't know how much spring water was within the mountain).

Due to numerous factors (food supply, further potential reinforcements from Tang, Tang being able to hold on so long despite being so disadvantaged), the alliance decides to go all in. They send in their entire army, and just try to bulldoze their way through, and while it does result in significant casualties on their side, it does the job, and they manage to break through the city. As it looked like MC's side was going to lose, even after all the work he's done, MC loses his shit. It seems like he also activates the blood disease that's inherent in his bloodline (which shouldn't have appeared in him since it already happened to his brother), and makes him go into a blood rage. However, unlike his brother, he seems to be able to control it to a certain extent and differentiate between friend and foe, resulting in him massacring 10,000 enemies by himself. That, combined with his blood technique which steals his enemy's energy, increased his cultivation from like True Origin 9 to Martial Emperor 5 (which is like 15 levels).

Eventually, he snaps out of it (after the enemy backs away from him, so he has no new enemies to continue his bloodrage xD), and returns to his HQ. Luckily for him, while he was going crazy, his elder brother took over command, and while he isn't as good as MC, he was able to hold out for a while. Eventually MC calls for his father and new Protectorate General (who had been in charge of their own battle fronts), and sets up a plan to turn things around and win the war. The enemy had 3 major powerhouses (Tibetan General, Southern Country's King, Southern Country's General), whilst MC's side only had 2 (MC's father, new Protectorate General). Up until now, only the generals had fought one another, with the King staying put. MC baited the King to attack him personally (MC's detachment went to the enemy's camp and burnt their remaining food supplies down to the ground), whilst the 2 generals used aura formations (a concept that will be explained in the training camp arc) to stall the enemy generals. Then, the 2 generals sneak attacked the King, resulting in him getting KO'd. With his condition unknown, his army's morale collapses, and the general, caring about his health first, chooses to retreat. The Tibetan army, having lost their ally, still wanted to continue (since they still outnumbered the Tang army, who was left with 50,000 troops, whilst the Tibetan army still had 250,000+, but were forced to retreat as well. MC's army descends the mountain, killing the retreating army, resulting in 400,000 casualties from the Alliance.

    2. Yes. He built a base/training location on top of the spirit vein, as well as a base near the official training camps (after he bought the land nearby and built a base that he used to recruit people, the training camps were speechless and had to forbid anyone else from buying any of the land nearby xD). He would recruit people from the training camps into his base based on his impression of them in the original timeline (if they were slightly famous/well known), as well as opened up an entrance examination (for those who weren't well known). For the people he deemed trustworthy, he would send them to the spirit vein where they could practice and cultivate faster.

    3. Not much is really known. Not enough time has been dedicated to training/cultivation, so a lot of things are still unclear. The war alone took 1/4 of the chapters, and prior to that MC wasn't very far in his cultivation.

Origin Energy - basic building blocks, you can learn different techniques at this stage
True Martial - you get access to an Aura that gives you special properties (e.g. boosts your speed, strength, defence, momentum, etc). Soldiers are at this stage.
Profound Martial - unknown. Commanders are at this stage
Martial Emperor - unknown. High ranked commanders are at this stage
Saint Martial - unknown. Top tier generals/commanders are at this stage. MC stopped at this stage in the original timeline
God Martial - unknown. Only the Tang Emperor made it here

    4. Bai Siling - went on a mission with MC for their final assessment during the training camp arc. Didn't learn of his identity initially, but deduced it whilst on the mission. First to develop feelings for MC, and first to get indirectly turned down.

Zhao Hongying - Bai Siling's friend. Pretty sure she's just in it for the fun. She likes MC's prospects, but knows that it's unlikely that she'll win, since they're not really all that close.

Huang Qian'er - descendant of a noble clan who opposed MC and the Wang Clan. Forced to serve MC after Wang Clan curb stomped the Huang Clan in their feud. She's a proud person, but she softens up and accepts MC after she spends more time around him and sees that he isn't a playboy like many thought.

Xu Qiqin - descendant of a noble clan who works for King Qi. In the original timeline, her skills in logistics make her a valued person under King Qi. In this timeline, MC notices her in the training camps, and then sets up the entrance exam (where he basically challenges everyone to a game of Go). She (who's really good at Go), secretly cross dresses as a dude, sneaks in and attempts to beat MC in the entrance exam (cause everyone looks up to his skill, and she's very proud of her own skills). MC beats her several times, and then publicly denies her entry into his base, even though she's got a higher skill than all the other entrances (as well as the examiners). She leaves and then learns/copies MC's way of playing, and then after a while comes back and challenges MC again. She bets against MC, after which she loses, and then MC gets her to serve him for some period of time. She plays an important role in the war by being the person in charge of logistics.

That being said, I doubt any of them will really get very far, until quite late into the story (otherwise not at all). MC has stated that he has no intentions of pursuing romance (that's how he turns down Bai Siling), because he has more important things to do (like save the potential fall of the empire), though the girls do still try and chase after him (as well as other random noble ladies, especially after he wins the war, lol).

    5. For Wang Liang (son of Uncle Li Lin), who likes business and wants to become a great merchant, but whose endeavours keep failing, MC tasks him with a mission - to gather a crew and head to the southern islands in order to help him locate some resources (Spatial Meteorite Iron). When he comes back, he becomes a more mature and confident captain, who loves being at sea xD. He's also the spark for one of the important moments in the Han-Hu plotline.

For Wang Li (son of Wang Gen), I can't remember if MC helped him out much. He helped him during the meeting at his grandfather's birthday, but that might have been it.

For MC's second brother, he plans to get him released and help control his disease so as to use him on the battlefield where his disease can be useful, and where he won't have to be stuck in the prison forever, but this issue hasn't been touched upon just yet.

For MC's sister, he's currently getting her trained under his master's guidance, but since she's still so young, she hasn't been able to do much, but it does seem like she's getting a lot stronger.

For Wang Zhu Yan (daughter of Wang Gen), he hasn't done anything of substance for her yet. He's given some stuff to keep her happy, but nothing of any real value. He probably will at some point, though, but after we learn more things about her.

For Wang Fu (MC's eldest brother), he hasn't done anything for him either, but I doubt he even needs/wants anything, since he should be able to do things himself. Perhaps MC will give him a Wootz steel sword, or a new technique, or something like that.

    Edit: Wow, that's a lot. I didn't realise I wrote so much :O

    Thanks for the answer.
How does the MC get his sister to start training? Isn't she super lazy ? How does the Master react when he sees the Sister's innate talent?

MC basically introduces her to his master, and he forces her to train, i.e. he forces her to stay on the mountain, so they basically spar with one another for the first couple of days/weeks of their meeting, until she realises that he's OP and she can't get past him yet, so she relatively obediently trains. Most of the training is done off screen (since MC isn't always there on the mountain).

Towards the end of the war, the sister shows up, as part of the third wave of reinforcements (but at that time the war was already over), so she was strong enough for the master to be satisfied in letting her leave. When they met (and after she got yelled at by their dad), she runs up and hugs MC, and manages to push him back a couple of steps just from the sheer force (remember he's Martial Emperor 5 or something).

    1. What reward does Wang Chong receive after winning the war? Does he face any resistance from his political enemies?
    2. How do other nations react to the MC's achievement? Do they try to harm him?
    3. What are the major plot points from the MC joining the training camp to the border war?
    4. How does he recruit Li Siye? What are the list of his main subordinates? Do any of the children of his grandfather's subordinates join him (especially the arrogant chick)?
    5. What happens to the martial expert bodyguard MC hires? Why does he need so much money?
    6. Does the MC's currency system get implemented? Why is Zhang Munian so important to the MC?

    1. Wang Chong's rewards for winning the war in the Southwest include gold (I think it's around 3 mil pieces), a landed noble title (Marquis + ability to govern a region of land), a character (not entirely sure what this means, but I'm assuming it's like a title, kind of like how MC's grandfather was called the Duke of Jiu), and he becomes the Emperor's student/disciple (not too sure, it may be a mistranslation, however I'm guessing this is only an honorary title, so he gets the Emperor's favor/protection, he isn't actually a disciple of the Emperor).

    2. Disbelief, and wariness. Yes, they send assassins after him. We also learn of some super secret organisation that acts as a group that controls the world from behind the scenes get involved. Even though they played a significant role in the war (they were the ones who caused the war to happen), MC doesn't know or recognise them from either of his lives. They also dispatched a group of assassins (as well as an OP war machine) after MC.

    3. You can read from one of my previous responses:

    4. I don't actually remember, lol. But he recruits him from the training camp. I think he may have been one of MC's teammates, in that they shared the same instructor. He was initially cold at first, and then MC found out his circumstances and helped him out (he had a grudge or other with some other clan).

Nevermind, just looked it up quickly, I was thinking of a different character (Sun Zhiming). In that case. What happens is, MC hears about him from his previous life, so when the training camps are formed, MC transfers him and forcefully enrolls him through King Song (enraging him, since he likes fighting and wants to gain merits to get promoted), so MC sets up his camp and starts recruiting people, Li Siye goes there and tries to take down the camp, because he thinks MC is overrated and that everyone's thinking too highly of him. He beats everyone there, until MC arrives. Afterwards, MC lures him using the Wootz Steel sword, and gets him to follow him for a while. He basically hires him for a bit using the sword as payment. During his assigned tasks, Li Siye learns more about MC's personality, and eventually submits to him.

The main ones (who are often mentioned) are ones we've already seen (or the ones I told you about previously - the possible love interests).

Tuoba Guiyuan - swordsmith, MC's smithing apprentice
Zhao Jingdian - MC's teammate in the training camp, MC's subordinates in his previous life (one he met at grandfather's birthday)
Zhang Munian - biologist, in charge of provisions
    Miyasame Ayaka - Japanese assassin
Zhang Shou - former government official, MC's chief architect
    Bai Siling - ally/love interest
    Zhao Hongying - Bai Siling's friend/love interest
    Huang Qian'er - MC's servant/love interest
    Xu Qiqin - MC's logistics officer/love interest
    Li Siye - MC's teammate/subordinate/future general
Old Ying, Lone Wolf, Iron Hand - former government officials, works with MC after he helps them with a case that they couldn't solve (government officials being assassinated -> leads to finding out the existence of Goguryeo spies within the capital)

Chi Weisi - noble clan's son
Zhuang Zhengping - noble clan's son
Xu Qi, Nie Yan and Gao Feng - MC's teammates (first is good at leading, second is good at offence, third is good at defence)
Chen Burang - has talent in archery, MC helps him learn of his talent earlier, and trains him to become a Divine Archer
Guo Feng and Chai Zhiyi - sons of high ranking Dukes

In terms of the descendants of his grandfather's subordinates, after MC returns triumphantly from the war, they all join him, though most of them are unnamed. We haven't heard of that spoilt chick yet.

    5. I'm pretty sure he just stays as a guard at the Wang mansion, to protect MC's mother. As for why he charges so much? It's unknown. Probably just because he's strong, lol.

    6. I think it's being implemented, but with the series of events that occur (MC moving around fighting), it doesn't really get talked about much.

Zhang Munian is important is because in the future he discovers some grain that generates a higher yield during a time when the Empire was being ravaged by famine. MC helps him recreate that grain as well as giving suggestions to make improvements based on his 21st century knowledge. MC values him because food is one of the most important necessities for war.
