Chapter 1 - The Hell that Haunts you

“I’m currently giving the last review to the report; the plan is to end at 3:00 pm”

This is Kiteretsu company, located at Sendai Capital Tower at 13F in Sendai, capital of the prefecture of Miyagi

Harima works for Google Inc. under the director Eduard Ludwig, his daily life consists in sending daily reports to the director, his reports are based on statistics that help the director take decisions so is kind of an important job

The daily routine is not bad at all, everything seems in place, but wait something seems off, what is this, there is an obento at the office of Harima, is kind of rare sight to have this, I mean, he barely speaks with the staff

Well not a heart in flesh but a heart made with rice, something is fishy because he just has 6 months in the company, is not like he made any friends so far, he just live shut at his office and the 5 monitors where he only sees numbers and no faces beside he is an Otaku that lives watching anime and playing games

“could you help me with this Harima San? Sorry I didn’t know you were having lunch “

“don’t worry I’m used to eat and work at the same time “(what he meant was “used to eat and play at the same time “)

“could you please help me with this report?”

Inoue San was able to see the Harima san on his lighting speed getting full speed to his office where he closed himself

The girl that rejected him at his previous job was working with him once again, he left that job because of her and now she was here with him

“so, did you figure out?”

“I don’t know for certain”

“are you playing with me?”

“Mikado and I are in the same club but I can’t tell if he likes someone, he is not like me”

So technically yeah, Harima got filled with those ideas from everyone and decided that he would try to discover Marisa feelings towards him



Music Club

Marisa came looking for Mikado who was playing the trumpet and I was at the piano, we were playing random songs, we didn’t notice and kept playing, she stopped talking to me a couple of days ago because Aika got close to me, another proof that she felt something for me, we stopped playing and Mikado said

“hey Marisa”

“you guys sound really good together”

“Mikado really have nice skills holding his breath that long on the trumpet”

“dude, you play with your eyes closed all the time, anyways, I’ll go to the bathroom and then we head home ok?”

And then

“Marisa could you give me a moment?”

“……”

“why have you been distant from me lately?”

“you are such a playa Harima”

“don’t be like that with me Marisa, the truth is that”

And here it comes

Chapter 14 – Hurt my Ego
Marisa got really uncomfortable with those words coming from me, I was in shock as well because I had sworn that she would accept my confession since she seemed an easy shot but guess what

“sorry Harima, I see you as a friend”

YOU JUST GOT OWNED HARIMA!

Mikado then came and said

“am I interrupting something?”

“let’s go Mikado”

“Jin, are you coming?”

“I remembered that I had something to do still so I have to stay”

Harima stayed on the music club room for a while and was trying to figure out what happened and then

“it seems you don’t have problems adapting yourself to your old self Harima” Benten showed herself after being absent for a while now

“……”

“are you hurt because you got friend zoned in the act?, I’m starting to think you were not so cool at all, what was with that confession? I thought you were a romantic guy that would take her on to a romantic park first”

Harima started walking in the room while listening to Benten

“……”

“c’mon, here is a piano, show me what you can do”

Harima then went to the piano and started playing, Benten was not expecting what she started to listen, Harima had something on his playing, you could feel his hate, pain and sadness on it

“dude, did this really affected you so bad?”

And then the speed of the play changed, it was strong and amazing

“it hurt your ego huh?”

“you know, I play the piano for myself, I don’t play for others, it makes me feel at ease”

“well, you will have more chances with her don’t ya?”

“I don’t know if I will be able to talk to her”

“the one that is not going to talk to you is Hatsune”

Oh, shit I forgot about her

“she has yet to wake up even after you used the dispositive on her”

That comment was not fun to Benten so she decided to not bring Hatsune topic back again



At Harima Bed

So, what did go wrong then? I thought she felt something for me, there is no way she doesn’t feel anything for me. I need to find out what happened

At School

Minoru and Marisa were talking like usual, Mikado was with Aika, I was with my headphones listening music at top volume, we were having fun, Koharu joined Minoru and Marisa, everything seems normal, I guess we could say that nothing happened



But something had happened



That afternoon

Mikado and Marisa were waiting for Minoru and I

“hey Jin, Minoru, let’s go home together”

Marisa was not comfortable with Mikado invitation

“Minoru go with them, sorry Mikado I have stuffs to do, could you please take Minoru home?”

At the roof Koharu noted that Harima didn’t went home with Mikado and then made her way to the music club

Harima has just arrived to the room and she didn’t enter, she stayed outside and then Harima started playing and she felt what Harima was feeling, Harima was not crying, in the opposite, he was mad, how a person like him could get rejected, a musician and someone who was close to her and most important, how could you reject your brother best friend? |maybe because she thought of him as another brother? |Koharu left and was thinking on how to cheer Harima up and came with an idea|



Next day Music Club

Mikado and Harima went to the club as usual but there was a surprise at their club, a sweet violin sound was coming from there, Mikado had heard this sound before but Harima didn’t know who was this girl, pretty obvious, Koharu was Mikado crush after all, he knew about her taking violin classes, that was the main reason why he joined the Music Club, he was waiting that he could invite Koharu to the club but unfortunately, she was not there for Mikado, she was there for Harima

Harima inspiration went sky rocket and told Koharu

“WOW YOU ARE AMAZING”

She blushed and said

“well is that a yes then?”

Mikado was in shock because he thought that Harima had confessed to her and this was his answer

“What do you mean?”

“will you let me join the music club?”

Mikado felt better after realizing it was not what he thought

So, the activities at the music club started to make longer than usual the three of them kept playing until late, Marisa always was the one that stopped us from playing asking Mikado to take her home, Minoru used to leave alone by then

“Jin, are you coming with us?”

“I’ll practice a little more”

The idea of leaving Koharu with Harima alone was not all great for Mikado and left them anyways, then Koharu asked

“did something happen between you and Marisa?”

Harima started playing ignoring Koharu, she didn’t ask again because she noticed Harima ignored her, and this happened almost every time until Koharu stopped asking



On the way Home Mikado and Marisa

“did something happen between you two? It’s been a while since I saw you talk to each other”

“he is a playa and I told him that I don’t like how he have changed”

“well, I didn’t know you had a fight with him”

“he is your friend so is ok, but he is not mine, I don’t have to talk to him”

She said those deadly words so she could not get misunderstood by Mikado, it was not the truth, if she tells Mikado that Harima confessed her, his friendship with Harima could end



At music club that day

“Koharu, is late, let’s go home”

The figure of the first rival in Harima story appeared at last

 

Chapter 15 – He is over six feet
The leader of the basketball club team, first son of the Director and the older brother of Koharu, Ennosuke who later will have a crush on my sister Minoru was at the door, he was over six feet and I was 5 feet and half

“Harima, let me introduce you my brother Ennosuke”

“nice to meet you”

“I have my bike outside so let’s go”

“see you tomorrow Harima”

Man, that dude was scary

Several days later

Mikado and I were on the classroom still and on the door

“yo Harima, Mikado”

Ennosuke was searching for me

“want to play? After school”

“what do you say Mikado?”

“sure, I could use some exercise”

The truth was that Ennosuke had been going to take Koharu home when the practice at the Music club finish every time that Marisa made us stop, because she was searching for Mikado, and Ennosuke was trying to get close to Marisa or myself, but it seems I was the first to be his friend



At the basketball Yard

“Dude Harima, your accuracy is damn good”

“well, I need to have something to score because I’m very bad at running so when I have the ball I just shot”

I was different than Mikado who had really good skills at basketball, he used to be the coach of our class team for the school festival

Minoru then appeared at the yard and asked Mikado for Marisa and Ennosuke got close to me and asked

“Who is she”

“she is my sister, Minoru, hey Minoru come here”

Ennosuke got red, he asked me for her name but he already knew, he just could not find a way to make me introduce her to him, and since I was very dense I didn’t notice and did what he exactly wanted

“let me introduce you Ennosuke the older brother of Koharu and the Basketball Club leader”

“nice to meet you Ennosuke”

“the pleasure is mine” said Ennosuke with his face all red

“see you at home Jin”

“See ya”

Minoru left and Mikado and I could not stop laughing

“Damn Ennosuke, stop drooling”

“she is not like Mikado sister” I said trying to make Mikado think that my relation between her and I was ok

“you really use the worse examples dude”

“hahaha”

It would have been nice to keep those days the way they were



At this point Aika had left the group, she was working part time as model, the one who replaced her on the group was Ennosuke then one day something weird happened that I will never understand, Marisa was coming to Mikado, Ennosuke and I

“yo, I’ll be right back”

I ran like a total coward from the place, well I didn’t run, I walked away like if I was about to do something else, Marisa passed between Mikado and Ennosuke and then reached me and pulled me from the shirt, really man, I will never know what was this about but she said

“you are mistaken Harima, is not the way you think it is”

“I knew you will be the first person to talk to me”

That was the worse answer that I could ever give to her, Ennosuke and Mikado saw from far and Ennosuke then understood that Marisa was my weak point after seeing us together, well, at this point I had lost my crush who had been busy on her part time job, Aika



That afternoon

Ennosuke on his bike got close to me

“yo Harima”

“you can call me Jin if you want, we have been calling you Ennosuke since day one”

Yea, we were close from first day, he was a really nice guy and the three of us got along together even though we were on different clubs

“want to walk home?”

“what are you, my girlfriend?”

“I want to talk about something”

“ok but you have to make me a favor first”

“huh?”

“well you see, Minoru is my little sister”

“I already know that” he got nervous

“but that doesn’t mean that we are the only brothers on my family”

“and?”

“well, I have two older brothers, Kazuhiro and Ayato, we have never been a family with lot of money so we usually shared toys, clothes and the only bike in the family”

So, Harima stared at Ennosuke Bike

“do you think you can teach me how to ride a bike?”

“are you serious? You don’t know how to ride a bike?”

“I do, let me show you and you will understand what I mean”

Ennosuke lent Harima his bike and He tried to get on it

“dude, can you fix the height of the sit? I can’t reach the floor with my feet”

“HAHAHAHA SHORT FEET”

“don’t laugh, I’m being serious here”

He fixed the height of the seat and I placed my right feet on the pedal and pushed, and then I lost control and fell off

“dude, your problem is not that you can’t ride the bike, is that you get scared once you start moving forward”

“I know that’s why I need you to teach me”

We were practicing a little longer

“I think you need to stop using your headphones too often”

“why?”

“they are affecting your body balance, you keep using them at top volume”

“you know is easier to focus if I do that but I guess you have a point, I’ll try to stop using them and try again later”

He gave me a ride and then

“so, what is it dude”

We stopped at the river and we stared at the sky

“WELL THAT WAS UNEXPECTED”

“well, you could not hide the fact that you liked her and seeing you the mighty leader of the basketball team being rejected made me laugh, sorry man”

“do you think that I’m not worth for her”

“I’m not her, why don’t you ask her?”

“she just rejected me dude”

“well you are right, but there are more girls you know? There is Marisa, Mikado’s sister”

“she always looks like if I’m a thief or something”

“she is like that since I meet them both Mikado and her”

“you seem to know her well, why don’t try confess to her”

“nah, she is not my type and it would affect my relation with Mikado”

“does he know you like Marisa?”

“I think he does but we don’t talk about our crushes”

These confessions were not supposed to be made because I would reject them in the future, but I made the same mistake twice, not like I was not supposed to repeat them anyways, I had to go through this for some reason based on Benten

 

Chapter 16 – You and Your big mouth
School Festival was getting close and every group was working hard on their clubs, Ennosuke was focused on the Basketball club team, Mikado, Koharu and I on the Music Club, and Marisa on the Infirmary, we were planning a concert with the club, we included the Eric Ewazen trio piece for Trumpet, Piano and Violin, Mikado was happy with the idea because that meant that he could be with Koharu more time, for me it was just another way to keep myself busy so I could think in another stuff besides Marisa so it was a “win win” situation, the piece was a bit complicated

“Mikado your timing seems off in the Allegro Molto”

“yes, but is not that easy as in your case, I need to manage my breathing, different from you who just use your hands”

“well that’s true”

“there should be a way for you to get better control of your breathing” said Koharu which made Mikado felt important to her, however Koharu said it in order to call Harima attention

“I could ask Ennosuke to let you train with him”

“that’s a pretty nice idea but wont he be busy with his club activities?”

“he trains before school at 5am”

“that’s quite early”

“c’mon Mikado, we said that we needed some exercise or we will get rusty being musicians only”



Next day in the morning

Ennosuke, Mikado and I meet at School and we setup the route for our training

“ok so the plan is to meet at Okadama Shrine, we go from Naebo Oakadama Dori and will turn to the right on the first corner and take Miya No Mori Kita and then at the gas station we will take a left and follow Fushiko Kitta Dori until we reach the Shrine and then we will come back”

“that’s quite long”

“don’t be a chicken Jin, you said you wanted to come”

“I need to build stamina myself”

“ok girls, let’s go”

“who are you calling girl, you Eiffel Tower”

We started running and as expected Harima was left behind, Mikado was able to keep the pace with Ennosuke who was trying to break Mikado concentration

“you seem to be reaching your limit dude”

“don’t talk while running”

“this my usual route so I’m pretty used to it”

“yes, but this is our first attempt and I think Jin died and thrown himself to the river”

“haha, so, Mikado, do you know if Marisa have feelings for Jin?”

“…...dude, if you want to know ask her”

“but she is always with Minoru, Jin sister”

“this is a good chance for you to get close to Minoru, isn’t it?”

Mikado and Ennosuke reached the Shrine and 20mins later Jin was coming walking

“dude, you are pretty weak”

“hey I told you that I don’t have stamina at all”

Jin fell and was trying to recover his breath

“musician have it hard when it comes to sport don’t they?”

“pretty much”

“we will go ahead, you can come back when you recover your breath man”

Harima fell asleep at the Shrine because he was not used to wake up so early



10am Okadama Shrine

Harima was sleep but his position had changed, his head was not on the floor, he was sleeping in Marisa’s lap, Harima woke up and he was in shock and sat next to her looking on the opposite side of Marisa

“good morning Jin”

“what are you doing here”

“Mikado came back from training with Ennosuke and he was really tired and told me that you joined them and that you were not able to keep the pace with them”

That bastard

“so, I was worried and came to see if you were ok”

“you didn’t have to”

“Jin, I know we have been ignoring each other lately, but can we go back to be good friends again?”

Harima realized that she was right, they used to be good friends before Aika joined the group and since Aika was no longer part of the group there was no need for them to be fighting

“you need to stop being so jealous Marisa, your brother sooner or later will get a girlfriend and you won’t be able to stop him”

“I just didn’t think that Aika was good for him, I’m happy that she is gone”

“well let’s head back”

Harima and Marisa made her way back and on a corner Ennosuke was watching them on his bike



Couple of days later – Training Route

“yo Harima, you are doing better today”

“I told you that I needed to build stamina”

“with the festival getting close we cannot afford not giving our all”

“well Mikado, you are getting better control of your breath now for the Allegro Molto”

“yea, I’m glad that Koharu told us to train with Ennosuke”

“hey Mikado, share your email with me”

Harima saw Ennosuke trying to get close to Mikado by asking his email, Harima didn’t have a phone so he felt left out

“sure”

“Jin give me yours too”

“I don’t have one”

“oh, I didn’t know, sorry”

“I have yet to ask my parents for one”

“why do you have to ask them?”

“well I don’t have a job and we are short on money”

“then why don’t you start working?”

The obvious answer was something that Harima didn’t think about it

“I know someone who could take you as apprentice, you could work with him part time”

“really”, I guess I could give a try”



Next day

“Hello Mr. Fujiwara”

“Hello Ennosuke, how is it going”

Couple of minutes ago

“so, who is this person that you are talking about?”

“is a friend of our father, he knows him before Koharu and I were born, he is a man who has his own business and he is searching for an apprentice because his son decided to work on another thing and he don’t want to follow his father path”

“What kind of job is this?”

“you will see once we get there”

Back to Mr. Fujiwara Home

“I brought someone who I think is qualified to be your apprentice, his name is Harima”

“ah really? that’s good”

Harima was nervous because he saw the Tape Measure on Fujiwara’s neck, the Trimming Scissors on his hands and then he realized

“This man is a tailor!!!!”

“nice to meet you too Harima”

Harima pulled Ennosuke and whispered to him

“dude, this is a job for girls”

“don’t you see that Mr. Fujiwara doesn’t look like a girl?”

“but I will have to work with needles and such”

“c’mon, don’t you see how nice he looks?”

Then a guy with scary looking and a weird hairstyle came down from the second floor and said

“told you Father, your job is so boring that no one want to learn it”

He was Mr. Fujiwara son, Fusakage
