So I kinda want to get back into the tl business since I have some spare time but I has no computer. Any suggestions for apps for phones that can be useful for translating? Something that will let me multitask like a dictionary and the text on the same screen? Or I could just tlc since thats wayyyyyyyy easier than translating. My korean is starting to get rusty since I havent used it in a while

speaking of mtl, I also want to give it a shot. I have never really machine translated anything before, and I find that Japanese novels are much easier to mtl than chinese, so if I ever try it than it's going to be Japanese novels.
So my question is how much, basic knowledge of the Japanese language should you have before starting to mtl?

Zero knowledge is fine.. I started with Yolo.. At least you will gain experience.. I mostly divide the translation sentence by sentence then goes word by words..
I used wps office since on my phone, it's light and I got dictionary running on the side..
I always want to do that *sigh* need more time..

There are some translators that don't know a single word and just translate using programs and then edit the text

My knowledge of korean is good enough that I just need a dictionary for the harder words since I have a good grasp of the grammar. In the way korean at least, the way korean is used in writing is different than how its spoken. (To me at least) its just a huge pain going back and forth from a writing app to naver dictionary.
I've worked on ark and lms before but stopped due to laziness and school along with really strict parents. And because I'm lazy. Lol.

Ive considered doing tab switching on the browser but then once the translation tab gets really bogged down due to length of the text it'll probably start refreshing the pages each time I switch my tabs since it'll start taking up too much background memory. Since in general korean web novel chapters can get pretty lengthy. The korean text anyways. Usually the engoish part is shorter than the raws

I mean, don't you copy the raw to an office program first?

I generally tend to use google docs when translating since its easy to share with proofreaders and editors. So usually I'll copy the raws to gdocs and tl it from that generally spacing the raws in either sentences or paragraphs depending on how the text flows.

I have a galaxy s4 and it only lets me split screens with a very small amount of apps. And it doesnt let me run two chrome apps at the same time XD. Which if I could do that it would be perfect.

I see, I have an S6, lol there's a certain trick where I can pretty much get as many split tabs as I want. Right now I have 3 novels and the forum opened. one tab per corner.
