Ransom maybe? Now people know he is not afraid of chopping off arms, maybe he causes trouble, captures the young master and gets money from it. Yes, how couldn't I see it, such a simple plan.

Well, this probably won't be a true offense. Offending one junior of the family probably isn't much. Like the other sect wouldn't care if Yi Yun hadn't cut off the dude's arms.

Bo guy (Elder one) was actually decent one. He readily used his pill for the girl, he honestly admitted that his pills were worse, he didn't like his junior deals, and YY just offended him for no reason at all. Rune extortion is actually a good way to punish somebody.
You can always kill punk after he returns.

YY was already fully determined to cripple him because he almost caused the little girl to die.

Okay. He still could have just plainly explain his reasons "I needed a medicine for my friend and now I need justice". And not blatantly "who the fk are you old guy, go away shu-shu" with this whole "would you spare me" talk which is only offensive in nature and nothing else.
Good reason would have placed him in a higher position at the very least.

There was that, but the alchemist was left out of the bet. And if Yi Yun could use the runes he got from this hypothetical deal to buy the herbs he needed wouldn't that be the same as killing two birds with one stone? Not only would he shame the guy in front of an elder, the guy would make a huge loss for his faction, consequently loosing influence in the family and YY would get the money he needs plus would give some face for that faction, causing a good impression. Who knows what benefits would come from it? And again, money for the herbs. For me that would be better than simply crippling the guy and having endless streams of trouble.

And! Alchemist knows YY will come for him. Extort them now, make them think its over and take your bets later when you are ready.

Even if he can't defeat supremacies, he can still escape(he has divine tree and the powerful seed)
he didn't offend for no reason, if he lost, his arms would have been cut. As he is one of the top alchemist(perhaps the best in the city. no other alchemist has purple crystal card or fire seed or the lost alchemy formulas), he easily make money if he wants to from now on.
As long as Yi Yun does not offend divine lords, he is gonna be okay.
The city also has no fighting rule (he is safe as long as he is in the city). Also not many below Divine lord can easily kill him.City lord seems to favour him.
as there are no proper villians after nantian, there is more likely to be a face-slapping filler arc than revenge filler arc. (There was no revenge arc after he reached higher realm)
Even when he was in lower realm ,there were barely any revenge arcs.
Yi Yun is just going to stay for 3-4 years in this city and he will surely power up fast to overpower them within this period(this is what which happened in the previous arcs where he got massive power ups)
Also MC's are supposed to react or take revenge later when others try to bully them and Yi Yun is relatively powerful.

He did. As I said, Elder Bo seems to be half-decent guy at least. He protected his junior not because he was his fan or something, but because he had obligations to do exactly that. YY could still have gotten hands of the latter or handsome ransom which would have helped him heal little girl faster. Now they will mess with his money-making business cause he made this conflict way bigger than it should be (instead of junior vs junior its YY vs Elder-figure).
Plus he alarmed the alchemist a lot. He will need more effort to catch him in the future.
Now YY is making enemies with another faction. Why exactly? He is acting like arrogant young master. He has a goal - making money to heal little girl. Not to defeat enemies or something he would not even had if he acted the smart way. He needs clients to make money, and next he needs to find herbs - something this faction would have helped him with.

Hardly... AYMs go out to offend people, all Yi Yun did is deny other people who searching for him to serve them. As for needing money, I'm sure the City Lord has got tons of it, and you can bet someone like that would need pills sooner or later.

Personally I simply expect the next plot-line:
    1. YY needs herb X (or anything else)
    2. Enemy faction has herb X or they compete with him for it
    3. They refuse to leave a way
    4. Lots of killing

He can find the alchemist later. Why should he compromise with his enemies to help him do things that he can do with his own ability? This guy almost got his friend killed and then put himself on a chopping block. There's no need to think about uncle joe's face. Just chop. Is saving his face going to help YY? Unlikely.

If you actually know you MC who would always win and always do things right you certainly should not care about all this. If you don't know, you should compromise cause it's how life works. YY got little girl to whom he owns enormous dept needing healing and so he should act for her sake, not his own pride. Her best interest dictates him to compromise with his enemies to win money, time and less troubles.
As you said, he could always find alchemist later, after he pays this dept. The same goes for young master, don't you think? YY would not come for bet which he took ransom for already, he would come because this punk endangered his friend and so it would be direct revenge.
The girl life comes first here.

He somewhat knows that he's a MC. He knows he has a strong destiny and that people will have a hard time making him take a loss.

If he wanted to act for her sake instead of his pride then he'd have smacked himself to lower the price when they asked. He didn't because such things might affect his heart of martial arts.

Her best interest doesn't dictate that he compromise with them anyway. They'd target him either because he cut off the guy's arms or because they're mad that they had to pay him so much money to prevent him from cutting off the guy's arms.

He's become famous as an outstanding alchemist that works very quickly. He can make his own money. On top of that the trade fair or whatever is in a few years regardless of how quickly he makes the money and he still needs to practice his alchemy to the point where he can make the pill so he's saving no effort or time whatsoever by dealing with them.

Cause he is the MC. In reality it would be something like:
"From now on, since YY is a vile person, all people who asks pills from him are banned from our services, including their families and sects"
YY is one person who only makes pills, and not weapons and whatever, how much people would risk it really?
Compromising would not have affected him much since he would only compromise on bet and would have just postponed his direct revenge. Besides, he would not have compromised with him, but with his Elder, who was not an enemy yet.
What exactly YY would have lost here? Oh, I didn't take his hands for an appropriate exchange, but does it matter if he is still a walking corpse? Don't you think it's very different from smacking your own face?

Actually I wanted him to smack his own face a little. I would have respected YY for it.
And I didn't want this either, yes, in the same time

And what stops people from hiding their identities before going to his shop? What stops people from sending others to Yi Yun's shop instead of going themselves? What happens if a large amount of people in the city decide that they have no problem going to other services anyway? What if the people they're banning can't afford their services anyway?

You act like chances to cripple him are just going to keep falling out of the sky.

So MC-like thinking. In reality big people never had a problem with destroying young competitors. I'm acting like this. You don't need pretend they couldn't make troubles for him anyway, and it doesn't even matter. YY just refused to make money from air, it's just stupid.

The problem with destroying young competitors is that they can't actually attack him in the city. It's a lot harder to get away with such things in this world. In addition YY's service is something potentially life saving and life changing so it's a lot harder to convince people to not go there.

You're still ignoring the potential affect to his martial heart and ability to cultivate easily in the future. You're also ignoring that money isn't actually an issue for YY. That's why he's giving away all of these pills. So there's literally no good reason to go with your plan. Taking their money doesn't mean he could save the girl any faster or that he can do it more easily.

Actually, it does. Having lots of money and a neutral relation with the Immortal Pavillion (which he now offended) could mean finding the herbs before the encounter 3 years from now. We don't even know if someone will have the herbs then (well, they will, but YY doesn't know and he has no reason to be so sure about it). Plus, exchanging a bet for money would not affect his martial heart, the guy would end up screwed either way (losing power inside the clan and having a huge debt because of it). In my opinion he would gain far more benefits doing so than being overbearing. But, well, MC, so whatever.
