I can only tell you about the very beginning (first 50 chapters or so), but it's really cute so far. Spoiler: ML acts out-of-character because of MC The ML is a prince (wangye) and as you know, he starts out as the really arrogant, icy cold type, who's never been emotionally affected by any woman. So the way he behaves towards the MC, even when she's still a cat, is totally unlike him. Like you've already seen in the translated chapters, he dismisses his cefei almost in the middle of sex without a 2nd thought--just because cat-MC has showed up in the bedroom and he finds the cat's reactions amusing, even fascinating. He feeds her personally, bathes her personally (of course, that's also when his S tendencies come out, lol, as he really likes to impose his will on poor little cat-MC and "torment" her until she's obedient and tries to win him over with shameless flattery), lets her sleep in his room. He's never kept anyone or anything that close to him before, and hilariously, the cefei starts burning with jealousy because of the cat who got to sleep with wangye when none of his women were ever allowed to before (they were always dismissed immediately after sex). She orders her servant-girl to somehow kill the cat. Spoiler: MC turns human again Then of course, pretty soon the MC scratches the ML and regains her human form (she needs his blood for that). She's super excited and chirping, "now that wangye has seen I'm not a pet but a human, of course you have to let me go"--which the ML does *not* take well, lol. At his most oppressive and autocratic, he tells her, "whether you're a cat or a human, you're still ben wang's." And he quickly beds her (she's kinda reluctant at first, but he keeps seducing her, and she falls for him in the end). Yet he's aware, especially in the beginning, that it's not like the MC is crazy in love with him (in a hilarious scene, another one of his concubines--allegedly his former favorite--tries to put on an act, as if she was bullied by the MC, and the ML sees the truth instantly and thinks bitterly to himself that the MC wouldn't get in a fight with a love rival over him, because he's not that important to her--and there's this tone of dissatisfaction, lol). To ensure that the MC will stay by his side, he threatens her with the well-being of other people in his household, whom the MC cares about. Spoiler: ML hurts the MC for the last time There's a pivotal moment when the MC keeps insisting that she wants to go home, and that it's not wrong of her to want that, and the ML is very angry and threatens her (because he won't ever allow her to leave him), but she still won't ask for "forgiveness" (i.e. promise not to leave him), and then he orders 20 planks--that's a punishment where she's hit on the butt with a wood plank. I think he just wants to intimidate her, but the MC gets stubborn and won't back down, and won't ask/beg him to stop, and he's too proud to ask for the punishment to be halted. It's a really powerful moment, and I think it marks the turning point in their relationship. He's still trying to cling to his indifferent persona and not admit how important the MC is to him, but even as he's trying to impose his will on her, he can't bear to watch her be beaten (he turns his back so as to not watch). And the MC endures stubbornly out of pride, without addressing him, until she can't endure anymore and faints. Then of course, the ML panics and orders the punishment stopped instantly and orders a doctor to come quickly. When he hears that the MC's life might be at risk if she develops a fever, he coldly tells the doctor, "if she lives, then you live; if she dies, you die too" and the poor doctor almost sh**s himself out of fear. Anyway, the ML obviously regrets his actions--not that it excuses him, but I think it was an important moment of self-realization for him, and it's just sad that the MC had to suffer for it. He takes care of her tenderly while she's unwell and even feeds her personally medicine when she won't swallow it otherwise, mouth-to-mouth. Spoiler: other random tidbits about the ML - because he doesn't want to be vulnerable, his first instinct is to destroy what could become his weakness. When he first becomes so fascinated with cat-MC, he has a moment where he feels himself in danger because of said fascination, and considers killing cat-MC. Then he reassures himself, "it's just a pet" and lets her live. Also when cat-MC touches his face with her little soft paws, his killing intent flashes for a moment (he had never allowed anyone to touch his face), but he ends up allowing the caress. Then after the cat becomes a beautiful girl and he beds her, soon after he again has a moment of realization that he's becoming vulnerable, and he considers killing her. And once again, he consoles himself, "it's just a woman. I'll soon get tired of her" or something like that, but actually doesn't bear to kill her. And then of course, he completely and utterly falls for her. - gradually, he only likes eating the food that the MC cooks for him. One time when she's not in his residence for a couple of days, and he's again being served the sumptuous dishes of before by his servants, he finds them tasteless and won't eat - he's very possessive and jealous of the MC. There's a (foreign?) Crown Prince who's also interested in the MC, and whenever the ML witnesses that, he usually ends up in a jealousy fit and "eating" the poor MC until she can barely more. - after the MC falls in love with him, she explains that she needs to be in a monogamous relationship, because that's how the culture she grew up in works, and she thinks the ML won't be able to accept that. Surprising her, the ML appears deep in thought, and while he acknowledges that his culture, and his identity as a wangye, weren't shaped on the principle of monogamy, he will try it for her, and work hard at it. - as their relationship advances, he starts allowing her more and more freedoms. He even lets her out of the residence (with a bodyguard) and to make her own money. - when his cefei tries to implicate the MC as guilty of causing her miscarriage (she wasn't pregnant at all), the ML doesn't doubt the MC even for a single moment, and promises to get her cleared of the accusation (which landed her in jail, because it was a serious crime, and the MC still had no high official status to protect her) Spoiler: other random tidbits about the MC - the MC seemed pretty silly at first, kinda airheaded, but she turns out to be surprisingly intelligent. She grew up with a doting father and six godfathers and has accumulated lots of useful skills (like cooking, hypnosis, gambling etc.) which make others (the ML, his brothers, the Crown Prince I mentioned) admire her. - she "invents" a lot of things, using her modern knowledge, to make her life in ancient times more comfortable. She also tries to start some businesses, as she wishes to be financially independent in case things don't work out with the ML. Spoiler: ending I only had a quick peek at the ending, and don't know any details, except that it is a HE. The MC and the ML lived their life together, and in the final chapter, they seemed at the twilight of their years? And the MC is teasing the ML about how he was such a harda** with her at the start of their relationship? I'm not 100% sure, though, since like I said, it was just a quick peek.
@Sparkleme1110 yes, she did eventually forgive him. I am not quite sure what chapter but it happened pretty early in the novel. @Ran ahzu they did have twins, a girl and a boy. And she became the richest person in 4 countries, ie the whole continent
anyone out there can spill some spoilers please? this novel is so sweet, i dont mind the diabetic threats it has.. *desperate* I tried to MTL and have a massive headache 1. from the translated chaps and spoilers above, ML had already had several women. What happen to them? 2. is there any arc shows us what happened in present time after MC disappeared? It was because of attempted rape, right? it seems MC has strong family (said skills learnt from 6 --6!!-- godfathers, sure the parents are not just ordinary); any revenge/slapping? the rich douchebag is sure not deserved fate of getting off unscathed
no he has already had cefei, even when MC transmigrated into cat and fall on the canopy bed, it was the time he was in the middle of doing it -- or foreplay.. something like that.
