This is just my opinion, but considering his personality, I really doubt it. At most, he'll go a little out of his way to protect someone he likes. By like, I mean someone he's agreeable with. But who knows, maybe he'll change.
Spoiler I stopped after he left the academy before the cryptic mass murdering began it always just seemed like something good would happen but nothing ever did so i got tired of waiting, has it become noteworthy in some way since then?
I think it's a great novel. To sum it up he's a practical person, regarding everything. p.s. you can read just a few chapters and you'll probably get the gist of it. If you don't like it then probably drop it.
As of the latest chapter he has a empire, two wives, two sons, grandkids and great-grandkids and great great great great grandkids ( because wizards live for a long ass time)
Im usually one for a bit of pure romance in any novel i read but even without it I'm still enjoying it. So, guess you could say it's a good read.
I do enjoy romance and really enjoy ones with a very good female lead or no more than 4 good female leads..
I think that is hard thing to happen in this novel, because love isn't a practical thing... For the MC it would hinder him... in my opnion of course...

oh well it doesnt seem that dark to me so far. Also, I didnt even realize it was dark fantasy because i started reading it on OMA's site after getting caught up with DBWG.
its an edgy teenager who pretends to be a scientist, who acts because a "chip" in his brain tells him everything to do. Why u expect romance.
Spoiler He married (to create a clan) to the only chaste girl among slutty lustful dominating warlock womenfolk (500+ chapter). Beauty and Strong too of course. Those are standard chinese cliches. Without love too. He tasted quite a few girls before that.
