Discussion Weapons You'd Like to See More of

I just want more crossbows, always found them more interesting than bows for ranged weapons.
Spears as well I guess although that is mainly because I'm more interested in large scale battles between regular soldiers than fights between a few OP characters.

 

Razor-edged ping pong paddle that’s also used to hit exploding ping pong balls at targets. Well, I guess I haven’t seen that before, so it’s "see at all" rather than "see more of."

 

Because it's completely silly, even for a fantasy weapon.

I'd like to see more spears and glaives.

 

At least there are historical real life versions of gunblades that were useable(even if not very effective), can't say the same for a lot of other over the top fantasy weapons.

 

Wait, what is that? other than musket+bayonet?

 

Pistol sword is one example, there are also older examples of people having added swords or axes to guns as well.

 

There's surprisingly a lack of weapon that can spit 6000 rounds of death per minute around here

When i see his vid it's make me want to see Cinese MC that has gauntlet type weapon.

 

The picture linked isn't of a historical gunblade (i.e. one that functioned as essentially a gun+bayonet). The gunblade in the picture was one where the gun section was fired to produce... a vibration... that would apparently make the sword cut "more powerful" and "more dangerous".

 

That particular one sure, but I don't think the poster you quoted was speaking of just the FFVIII design even if that is the one he showed.

 

Shield & Magic

If the world suddenly changed into a game, I'd go for this weapon path at least.
I would also engineer my shield to be useful for magic, such as a storage for mana, or one with buffs.

Meteor hammers, it was used in ATG for a bit. And all the other Chinese staff weapons you never see (Shaolin Spade, Guandao, etc)

 

Pole weapons of various types (particularly halberds, naginata, and plain non-magical staves), and archery (I've seen plenty of MCs that occasionally use bows, but it's almost never a main focus). Also, while it's the martial art I'm interested rather than just the weapons, I'd love to have a character use something like Eskrima/Arnis, especially with short sticks or knives.

I'd also like more novels where the MC uses politics as a weapon, especially feudal politics. It's very rare for it to be done well.
