So I am writing my own novel again.
I'll try to post a regular update but try to understand that this is a marathon and not a sprint. remember that the author's currency is motivation. I will write faster if I get a generally positive review and will slow down if I get a negative reception, it's that simple. Either way, no matter the reception, I plan to finish this story... Eventually. Thank you for reading.

    Genre
Action, Drama, Comedy, Fantasy, Mature, LitRPG

    Synopsis

    A hero's homecoming.

Ever wonder what happens next after the words "And they live happily ever after?"

Every fairy tale or adventure eventually comes to an end, so what comes next for the hero?

What if the ending of an adventure is just the beginning of another...

Follow the story of Ric as he comes back to the world he left behind and start his new life as a former hero.

Bruno, the security guard yawned loudly. He was on his second patrol of the night and it is boring him to death. He'd been working in this same museum for the last 8 years and he felt that patrolling this empty dark hall is making him lose brain cells.

"While that stupid Alfred is probably taking a nap in the lobby security room," The overweight security guard muttered to himself as he hikes his pants, then turned to a wall clock in the corridor. Deep inside, he didn't really blame his fellow guard since it is already 2 AM and nothing disturbs this place but the ghost and the ever present silence.

He and Alfred are half the entire security force of this old museum relic. John and Brian are the day guard and they are expected to arrive at 8 in the morning. Come to think of it, escorting a bunch of school kids and a few art enthusiast is also not his idea of fun.

So he continued to walk the silent hall and he started whistling the catchy latest commercial jingle. Maybe he can go to the washroom for a moment to wash his face in the basin to stop himself from yawn-

The lights in the hallway started flickering on and off, and a cold wind started blowing all around him. He whirled around thinking that something brush by him. but no one is there.

Even before he could freak out, a massive earthquake inside the museum almost toppled him over. He tried to scream but loose dust entered his mouth from the ceiling and he retched.

His radio squawked and he grabbed for it. "Alfred! Alfred! what the fuck is happening?!" But Alfred never answered. The radio was nothing but static.

But then a heavy air enveloped the place and everything suddenly lay still.

Bruno the security guard felt an overwhelming sense of anticipation as he looked wildly from side to side. It was at that time when a loud shrilling sound hit him and he again fell to his knees, this time clutching his ears.

The sound died just as it began, and before he could finally relax, a small ball of energy materialized not ten feet away from him. His eyes bulged as the ball of light grew and grew until it encompassed the entire corridor.

The massive sphere of light started to revolve around its axis and spin faster and faster. When Bruno was sure that the damn thing is about to explode, it suddenly winked out and everything went back to normal.

Except for the fact that a naked man in his middle or late thirties is kneeling at the center of the previous ball of light. His eyes were glowing with the same golden light that the energy ball was generating but then it too died down.

The man blinked for a couple times then looked around. His eyes explored every nook and cranny of the museum and then his eyes rested on Bruno himself.

Oh god, it's the fucking Terminator. I'm dead I'm dead, I'm dead.

The man stood up naked. And Bruno whipped out his gun and with shaking fingers, pointed it towards the mysterious man.

The man was obviously aware what the gun can do and raised his arm up in immediate surrender.

"Don't you move, mister!" Bruno screamed. "I may not be John Connor, but I can still whoop your ass!"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"Are you telling me that you are not the Terminator!?"

"The termi- oooohhh!" The man said, realization hitting him. "You thought I'm the... because of the whole naked thing... "

    "Well, are you?"

"No, no, I'm not the Terminator!" He said irritated. "I know what you are thinking because I remember watching both Terminator movies before."

"Both? are you saying you haven't seen the third one yet?"

The man's eyes widen. "There is a third one?!"

The security guard shrugged. "Actually, there are five movies now, and I heard a sixth one is underway."

The man was in shock for a moment, then he visibly shakes himself back to the present. "Now listen closely because what I am about to tell you is a tad unbelievable but it is the truth," He said.

"My name is Ricardo Sonda, but everyone calls me Ric. I used to live in the Philippines but in 1996, me and my entire class were transported to another world during our high school field trip in October of 1996. The other world is called Arora, and it is a world of sword and magic."

The guard scoffed at him, but Ricardo continues to explain. "We were abducted but the kingdom who did that sacrificed the lives of almost 300 mages just to get us there. They told us about a Demon king who is about to awaken and destroy their world. So we trained in the art of the sword and learned the secret of magic, for they told us that we are heroes."

"So where are your classmates now?"

A sad looked appeared in Ricardo's face. "Some returned back to Earth because the contract only holds us there for ten years, but the rest died as time goes by. Those of us who choose to stay died one by one from the dangers of the other world. I was last one of them. Eventually, I killed the Demon Lord and they have a huge party in my honor but after a week's time, I decided to go back to Earth and to live the rest of my life in this world instead."

"Riiiiight," Bruno said skeptically. "So you lived in this fantasy world for more than 20 years and you are back."

Ric scratches his head. "Well you see, time in Arora is completely different in this world. Actually, I'm more than 300 years old now."

"Well, fuck that! I don't believe a word you just said!"

"Wait! Wait! How about I show you!"

    "Okay fine, show me magic."

Ric started tapping the air at something only he can see. But a moment later, he is now clad in perfect white heavy armor complete with red cape and a helmet hanging in his arms. "I didn't want to wear it while I am transferring from one world to another since it might damage my armor. I mean all of this are legendary loots!"

"Bullshit. David Blaine can do better magic that!"

    "Who?"

"Well, I still don't believe you! Are you telling me that you are a knight in that other world?"

    "I'm a Paladin actually."

    "A What?"

"To be exact about it, my complete job title is a light Paladin of the Red Dragon Order. I also have a subclass of a battlemage that specialized in summoning magic."

"Oh, this is getting ridiculous!" Said Bruno.

"How about this!" He raised his finger and pointed it to the ceiling. Instantly a fireball the size of a regulation basketball appeared floating inches from his fingertips, lazily spinning around.

Sweat is now pouring at the back of Bruno as he struggled to explain the situation he is in. "No, no, no! That's some sort of trick, either way, I still don't believe you."

"One more then!" Ric said and he tapped the side of the corridor wall. A massive pentagram with hieroglyphics moving around it appeared suddenly, and before it could register to the security guard's brain, a gigantic snout inserted itself from the gateway. The snout was bristling with heavy sharp teeth and the black leathery nose was sniffing the air.

"Master? Is that you?" The dragon roared inside the museum.

Proudly, Ric presented the snout to the gaping security guard. Bruno just stared at it for a moment, then he promptly lost consciousness.

Ric was caught completely off guard and he walked over to the fat guard who is now snoring. He slapped the guard lightly but he remained unconscious.

Ric sighed and then grabbed the fat guard to slowly pull him to a nearby wall. He then proceeded to push the big snout back into its own world.

"Sorry, Chuchu, but it was a false alarm. Now go back to your world."

"Awww! But I am hungry!" pouted the female dragon. "And I wanna play."

"Some other time," Ric said impatiently, as he struggled to push the big snout back. Eventually the gateway door close as well as the presence of the dragon.

Ric finds himself suddenly alone. He wondered towards the lobby and found another guard sitting at the cameras but he too was sleeping.

"Maybe it is better if I hide who I am for now," He said, shrugging. "Oh well."

He started whistling as he walked out of the museum for good.

Ric stood in front of the museum door and gawked at the city beyond.

The glass towers he knew is used for living and office space soared into the heavens, defying the heavens and literally giving it the finger. They were much taller and sturdier and far more glamorous than he remembered them to be and this unintentionally reminded him how long he was gone.

Ric smiled sadly then sighed. "To new beginnings..." He said under his breath. He walked down the short stairs and smiled at a young sexy woman jogging at the early morning of the night. The girl looks back at him with a funny expression on her face.

When the girl passed, Ric stared back at himself and realized that his heavy paladin plate mail is probably not in style in this day and age.

He hesitated for a second because the divine armor was given to him by the red dragon Altara for saving her eggs from the giants. It was the same armor he used when he defeated the Demon King. He could not completely remember how many times did the armor save his skin from the 82 years he wore it.

But that being said, he knew he didn't have anything to worry about in this realm about anything that can truly harm him. Even in the realm of Aurora that he came from, besides the battle with the Demon King, its been at least 40 years since he truly relied on his armor. Besides, he can always use another form of defensive measure including his Master level 10 elemental force shield or his hardened dragon skin.

And so he decided to stow away his full 8 pieces set of the Divine Dragon Armor. That was not the problem, his real problem is finding an alternative dress that can make him blend into this fashionable city.

Eventually, he decided to wear his original basic mage robe set, consisting of 5 pieces: the boots, silky pants, an inner shirt, a long sleeves wrap around robe and a wide leather belt. Ric had collected all five of the original elemental basic robes, plus a void mage robe and a light one, totaling seven in all. Ric decided to wear the robe that focuses on water elemental magic simply because of its blue color, and nothing else. Whatever status increase it gives, Ric doesn't actually need it. He simply just wants to blend in.

He is walking for several blocks now and he still couldn't help gawking at the sleek cars moving at a snail pace on the road, or the sound of jazz at night in a nearby bar, or the smell of leaves in a park. Most importantly, Ric's attention is mostly reserved for the colorful creatures roaming at night in the city that never sleeps. Besides the sexy woman jogger, he also saw people walking their dogs and utility men and construction workers maintaining the city and then there are the early zombies going to work early.

"Excuse me, sir," He asked an old gentleman reading a newspaper on a bench. "Do you know where is the nearest adventurer's guild?"

The white old man just stared at him. "Is that an Asian thing?"

They stared at each other awkwardly for long seconds. Then he just waves and left.

Then a smell of meat made his feet move on their own volitions and next thing Ric knew is that he is standing in front of a hot dog vendor. His stomach growled.

"Hot day! Hot dog!" said the African American man in his forties. His smile was wide and exposing rows of perfectly white teeth. "What do you want on him? Everything, yeah? $4.50 for one, $8 for two."

Ric gulped, eyeing the delicious looking meat. He can already feel the saliva in his mouth. He tore his eyes out from the food and stared at the vendor.

"listen," Ric said. "I don't have money on me right now, but maybe you'd be interested in a trade?"

The vendor's smile slowly faded. "A trade?" He said.

"Yes," Ric said, smiling. "I would like to offer this short sword +1 for two of that delicious looking food of yours."

"Bitch, get the fuck out of here!" The vendor snarled. "You are ruining my day this early in the morning! Get!"

    Ric walked away chagrined.

The hero is feeling down when an object flew over his peripheral vision. His lightning reflexes made him able to catch it with one hand easily enough and when he saw what he is holding his eyes lit up.

    An apple.

It's been years since he saw one and suddenly he is craving this fruit. He turned to where it originated and a fruit vendor was smiling at him. The man was in his 60's, Asian and a demeanor that he is satisfied with his lot in life.

"You look like you need some," He said. "Here take a couple more."

Ric smiled wanly. "That obvious huh?"

The man just shrugged. His cart is filled with watermelon, mango, orange and a few exotic looking one. He filled a small plastic with a few 2-3 more apples. "Here, take it."

Ric stared at the fruits. "I don't have any money," He said truthfully, looking the man in the eye.

"I know. But like you, I experience hunger as well and it is not pleasant. Just pay me back what you believe is fair when you are ready."

    "What's your name?" Ric asked.

    "Call me Trang."

Ric smiled as he messed up his own black hair while grabbing the offered fruit. "Well Trang, I really appreciate this. I'll pay you back when I can."

The vendor watched the young man walked away with a smile on his face. "Small price to repay you... for saving my world," He said under his breath.

Ric finished the last of his apple when he noticed the sign above a quaint shop across the street. "Gregory's Antique Shop," it said and Ric smiled to himself.

Inside the shop was more or less what Ric expected. Exotic items from weapons to everyday tools, vases, dolls, unknown contraptions and ancient tomes and books. The place was dark, eerie quiet and the ever present smell of antiquity.

Somehow, Ric was reminded of a dungeon.

"Can I help you, young man?"

Ric turned and an out of the way office desk, sat a prim old man with a scholarly look about him.

Ric cleared his throat. "Yes, I'm wondering if you are interested in buying some antiques I recently acquired. The man gave a resigned sighed and slowly stood up from his chair. While he was doing so, and since he is partially covered by the antiques around him, Ric pulled out several items in his inventory.

When the old man was close enough, Ric silently offered him one of the swords he had taken out. The sword was a bit rusty and there are a lot of chips and scarring on its surface, but the sword is still serviceable and well maintained.

The man's face change from mild curiosity, to shock, then anger, then confusion, and then back to irritation. "This is impossible!" He exclaimed. "This sword has traces of design made by the Ming dynasty, ancient Sumatra, and the Abbasid Caliphate! despite the fact that the 3 never met in ancient times. I would say that this is some sort of an elaborate fraud... except the coloring and the tint of the metal tells me immediately that this thing is definitely a few thousand years old. But... that is just impossible!..."

Ric simply remained quiet. He was not an expert of earth's ancient civilization, but he knew for a fact that the sword was old since the dread zombie he killed to get that sword came from a sarcophagus that his mages informed him are very very old.

"I Tell you what," Ric began calmly. "I'll offer you that sword plus 2 others and a spear and a buckler, all with the same design and age. I want you to offer me what you believe is a fair price... plus your phone."

The old man blinked. "My phone? But it is an old one."

"That is not a problem. I only needed your phone so you have a way to contact me. I will trust you to give me a fair price for the product I owned. Then I will give you a week and you can do whatever test you need to check the authenticity of my product. Meanwhile, I will do some research and check the market value of this sword myself. If by the end of the week you still believe that my item is flawed or fraud, then call me and after you return back my products... I will return back your payment and double it. That will be the end of our business transaction forever. But if you decide that my product is genuine then I have another thousand item of the same caliber to offer you. Depending on your initial 'fair' price that you offered me, either you will receive a massive discount for being honest or a huge overhead tax if you cheated me when I offer these items for auction in a month's time."

The old man stared at him. He is tempted to cheat this cheeky young man and offer him the lowest price possible, but the very possibility that what he is offering is actually the real deal, then he might miss out on a very lucrative deal. He gulped.

"Each of the items has a market value of at least a hundred thousand dollars but All I can offer you is my entire savings with a total of just over $120,000. Besides my phone, I can also offer you a discount-"

"Done," Ric said immediately and shook the old man's hand. The old man, who later Ric learned is named Gregory, wrote a check and authorized an immediate transfer of funds.

"Lastly, by any chance do you know someone who can give you a different identity?"

Gregory narrowed his eyes at the young man. "You an illegal?" He asked bluntly.

Ric stared at the man and wondered how he can answer that question as truthfully as possible.

Ricardo Libarra was a 16-year-old Filipino student living in his hometown of Cebu when he was forcefully transported in another world. That was in 1996, and he was staying with his reluctant uncle and his family after the untimely death of his parents from a car crash. As time went by in his new world, he learned from the great library of Sartal that for every 15 years in the world of Aurora, a year would have passed on earth. He trained, went on adventures, then fought a long brutal war, trained some more others, finished the important quest and finally defeated the Maou.

An entire lifetime had passed. He spent exactly 316 years in Aurora and when he finally returns home, he decided to meet an old friend and convince the mages to bring him to a different location on earth: New York. At least the high mages had calculated the time he will arrive on his home planet of existence. The year will be 2017. Exactly 21 years after he was abducted.

"There is a very complicated answer to your question but the short answer is yes. I would like to return to my home country soon, but I am honor bound to complete a promise I made with a friend here. And It might take me a few years to do it. So I asked again, can you also help me in obtaining proper identification papers."

Ricardo gambled that this guy knew a few shady deals since some of the items he can see with his sharp eyes at the open back rooms look rather hard to legally transport to another country, like those religious statues that are covered in thick heavy fabrics.

After a moment, the old man answered. "I might know someone... But it will not be cheap," The man hedged.

    "I understand," Ric said simply.

Ten more minute and a deal had been made. Instead of his own phone since his wife calls that number, he gave Ric a disposable burner phone instead. Then he led Ric to the back of the shop and to a nearby safety vault. He opened it and revealed just over $56,000 cash inside it: the entire revenue of the shop for the entire month. Gregory gave Ric exactly 50 grand plus another check to a nearby bank for $70,000.

They both signed a hastily made deed for the entire set of items and each received a copy. "My contact will call you at that phone later this afternoon. What you guys talk about is none of my business and I don't want to know about it," Gregory said.

They shook hands and Ric left the store.

    Chapter Three is up!

The first thing Ric did after living the shop is to find food.

He found a nearby diner and a very heavy breakfast. He ordered sausages, eggs, bacon, hams, then a gallon of coffee plus orange juice. Then he had seconds of pancakes, muffins, more sausages, toasts and several more sandwiches. He almost emptied a new bottle of syrup with all the pancakes he ate.

After 3 hours of pigging out, he was finally full. The amused waitress just smiled at him. She didn't care how much food he put in his own stomach and the man paid for his meal with cash and he gave good tips. Her kind of customer. "More coffee?" She asked.

Ric raised his hand weakly to indicate no. But he had a satisfied smile on his face. "That was the best food ever!" He exclaimed. "Please compliment the chef for a job well done."

The waitress snorted. "Good for you, hon," She said. "Is there anything else you need?"

"Do you know where is the nearest adventurer's guild is located?"

The waitress stared at him with an indecipherable look on her face. "Boy, You and I are probably speaking in a different wavelength. I have no idea what you are talking about."

Ric just smiled. "It's alright, forget my question, and again thank you for the delicious food," He said, and dropped another $200 in the table, forgetting that he already tip the waitress.

Whistling, Ric left the diner in a good mood. Just then a story in the diner's tv caught the waitress' eye. It was a story in CNN's inside Africa.

"Yesterday afternoon, a team of wildlife guards protecting the endangered rhinoceros, discovered a new species of a plant here at the heart of the grassland. It's a colorful flower made of wide purple leaves and a beautiful lily-like center. No one is sure yet how no one had discovered it before since the road where it grew was a normal patrol area for the guides. Further test will be conducted but it is said that the rhinos already tasted the new plant and they seem to like it. This is Julia Adams, for CNN news."

Ric walked back to the fruit vendor and without the vendors realizing it, Ric left $2000 near the cashier plus a note that simply said, 'for the apples.'

He is still whistling and in a good mood when he turned to a side corner. He may be thinking of other things, but his high INT made him note the young kid near the stairs playing a video game in a phone-like device, and the four adults walking towards him. They were arguing about a guy named Mayweather. One of the adults is a black woman wearing a sports bra like a top and a skinny leotard. The woman was overtly showing her sexiness and despite himself, Ric was distracted, especially from the half smile she is displaying as she stared back at him. His eyes seem to have a life of their own as he could not avert his eyes away from her despite the knowing smile from the girl. And that ass... He thought helplessly. That is the biggest-

"Yo!" The man at the lead said, finally breaking Ric's trance. "Are you looking at my girl's ass?"

Ric blinked. He looked back at the girl who is now smiling smugly, then back at the leader. "I guess I am," he said simply.

Ric watched the annoyance in the leader's eyes grew even further. "Man, kick this chink's ass!" He said and the two other guys behind him charge Ric even before he could comprehend what was happening.

His social skills might be slow, but his reflexes are lightning fast. He may not know why the guy in front of him is already throwing a punch right at his nose, but if they want a fight then he will give it to them.

He intercepted the punch with one hand and casually stop its momentum. Before the guy can pull it back, Ric already squeezed and the bone in the man's hand crunched in several pieces. The man howled in pain.

Ric watched the second one attacked him from the other side. He nonchalantly turned his head to the side and evaded the incoming punch. He steps closer and grabbed the man by the neck, then threw him off to the side wall. He screamed, but it abruptly cut off when he hit the hard wall and everyone heard a sickening crack before he slid down the ground unconscious.

The leader grabbed a gun behind him and pointed it inches away from Ric' face, holding it sideways like any gangster. "You a tough guy, bitch? huh? Let's see what you got then, motherfu-"

A longsword covered in golden light materialized in Ric's hand as he swiped it up and the hand holding the gun flew in the other direction.

The man fell down the ground looking at the stump in his arms with disbelief and his lady friend started screaming uncontrollably. "You... you cut my hand?!" He said, hysterics in his voice.

Ric turned his head to one side. Like a dog trying to understand an alien concept. "I don't understand," Ric said almost softly. "You were ready to inflict violence in a moment's notice. And yet when it was inflicted upon you, you are somehow in shock about it? Why? should it not be obvious? kill or be killed. It is the law of the jungle, the way of the strong, the code of the warrior."

"What the fuck are you talking about?! I'm bleeding!" He turned to his girl, who looked at him with uncomprehending eyes, then back to Ric who is still holding his divine sword, and the girl simply ran on her high heels.

Ric let the girl go since she didn't attack him. But he turned back to the man on the ground and said, "Should we end this?"

"motherfucker, when I get my hands on you I'll-"

A fireball came out of Ric's outstretched hand and the man in the ground simply disintegrated. There was no cry of agony since the death was instantaneous and Ric just watched the flame. Incidentally, this was the first time he killed a human again in 20 years. All those he massacred are either animal monsters, undead or demons. The last humans he killed were the pirates of the silver Ocean of Ullata a long time ago.

He turned and saw the kid recently playing now gawking at him. His phone rang, distracting him. "Mr. Libarra? My name is Simon," Said by a cultured man on the other end of the phone. "I am asked by a mutual friend of ours to contact you for a possible ... service that I might be able to provide. Can we meet?"

"Now is fine," Said Ric. The guy on the phone gave him an address and he easily memorizes it. He closed the phone and smiled at the still gawking boy. "You can take the loot from the Mob I killed," He said, messing the boy's hair and giving him a winked.

It took a minute before the boy could react. "That is not a mob, Dumbass! That's my neighbor Leroy!" he shouted, but by then Ric was long gone.

The address given to him by Simon turned out to be an out of place Laundry service shop. Ric walked in and looked around. He noticed the back door is closed, made up of heavy steel and is guarded by a huge burly man who is reading the papers.

He walks toward the door and said to the guard, "I am here to see Simon," Ric said. "He is expecting me."

The man stood heavily and gestured for Ric to raise his hands. Ric simply raised an eyebrow. "No guns allowed, I need to pat you down," He said in a rough voice.

"Aah no you don't," Said Ric angrily. "No one will touch me."

The man opened his jacket and revealed that he himself is packing. "Listen, asshole," He said, grating his teeth. "The only way you will meet the boss is either my way or a harder way. You either- Oooph!"

Ric hand shot up and grabbed the big man by the throat and then he raised him up, making him panic as he dangled in the air. "I said... NO ONE WILL TOUCH ME."

"But you are touching me right now!" said the big man in a panicky squeaky voice.

Ric thought about it, then blushed. "Yeah, you're right about that..."

There was a screeched in a nearby speaker as it activated. "Let him in, Bruno," Said the voice.

Another buzz and the heavy door opened. Only then did Ric let go of the man who collapses on the floor, coughing to get some air. Without another word, Ric entered the now open door.

Inside was a bit dark and rows of just finished laundered clothes line in neat stacks in the corridor. The smell of detergent also dominated the entire room.

At the end of the corridor was a simple square table with chairs. Overhead is a bright yellow LED light. and a petite caucasian young man with glasses sat at the table and looking expectantly toward Ric.

Without any fear or hesitation, Ric sat down in front of the man and smiled back. "Forgive my associate, his built and demeanor normally made it so that not very many people say no to him and so when the rare individual actually do so, he couldn't adjust as quickly as the circumstances demand."

Ric didn't say a word and an awkward moment lasted between them.

Finally, Simon coughed and changed the subject. He offered Ric a brown envelope and inside are 3 IDs and several other documents that identify him as someone named Thang na Moh.

"You are a second generation Vietnamese-American. Your grandpa fought for the Americans in the Vietnam war era and now you and your family are a full pledge americans. Sadly your entire family died in a boating accident in 98, and you are now an orphan. You finished college in university of Berkley and you used to work as a warehouse assistant manager in Philly. But you quit, no one knows why except you. Oh, and you are now 37 years old."

Ric eyed Simon who smiled back at him.

"At least you look the part, How old are you any way?"

    332, He thought.

"That is none of your business," He said instead, and Simon shrugged. "How much will this cost me?"

    "$300,000."

Ric frozed. "For a fucking ID?" He said icily.

"For a new life," Simon said, staring back at him. "This service is normally reserved for an African warlord, a mob cartel boss, or a Russian oligarch running for their lives. We kept Mr. Moh's social security ID active by continuing Mr. Moh's life despite the fact that he is already a bone in a cemetery somewhere. That means we pay his insurance, his taxes, his stock shares, hell even his laundry tab. That kind of service will survive scrutiny from the CIA themselves, so be glad we have an ID to offer you."

Ric sighed. "Do you take check instead?" He said sardonically.

Simon laughed as he started cleaning his glasses. "The check given to you by Gregory is only for $70,000. That hardly covers it."

"Then you got me. Why in the world will I pay for a new identity worth 300 grand if the only money I have is 70?"

"Come now, Mr. Libarra," Simon chided. "For Gregory to request my organization's services, we both know that you paid him beyond your means. And like Gregory, we are willing to be paid by other other means if necessary."

Now it was Ric turn to smile. "I see," He said. "If that is the case then I might have something that you will be interested in." Ric made a show of reaching inside his robe but is now actually activating his inventory. When his hands came out, he carefully placed on the table a handful of gems: 8 small garnets, 5 opals, 5 jades, 4 rubies, 3 Topazes, and a medium size emerald.

Simon stared at the precious stones, the LED light is making them shine brilliantly in front of him. Then his gaze returns back to Ric. "I am not mistaken," He said with a flat smile on his face. "You Mr. Libarra is a very interesting person."

Ric blinked. His eyes went to the envelope then back to Simon, and then back to the envelope. He cursed loudly. "Bastard," Ric spat. "You set me up, didn't you? You want me to show you what I have."

Simon just shrugged and didn't even bother to lie. "I saw the weapons and armor that you offered Gregory," He explained. "No matter how desperate a person is, He will still be hard press to sell something that is worth $500,000 for only a hundred thousand."

Ric blinked again. "Wait, those ju- I mean things cost half a million?!"

"Each," Simon said. He also didn't miss the words the young man first use to describe the antiques. Junk, is it? He thought excitedly.

    "So what now?"

"Either way, we are offering you the new identity that you seek. But now that we understand each other better, I feel that I should be more truthful about the value that you are getting since we actually offer this service in truth for a million dollars. But since we are friends now, We are giving it to you for free."

Ric gave no reaction except the narrowing of his eyes. "For free? Why?"

Simon just laughed, but Ric can see that the laughter never reach his eyes. "We want to be your friend," he said simply.

Ric leaned back in his chair, seemingly relax but now his senses are spreading out over the room. There is now a 50-50 chance that this man or the organization that he works for is about to attack him. "Friends means a lot of things to a lot of different people."

"Maybe, but to many people, friends simply means that they help each other out for the benefit of both concern," He said.

Bastard is enjoying this shit, Ric thought in wonder.

"Let me guess your plans in the near future: Once you have your brand new identity, you will use that to create an account in the bank and then you will hope that the bank will buy your items. Am I correct so far?"

Damn it, Ric thought. Was my plan that simple?

"So here is the thing, banks are obligated to ask you where did you get those special stones or important item that you have. Inheriting it all from your great aunt Minerva can only get you so far. And if you cannot answer that question, an investigation can be started by the feds."

"I didn't steal it, if that is what you are thinking."

"It doesn't matter," He said bluntly. "If you cannot legitimately answer where you get your items then you will be buried in a whole lot of bureaucratic red tape."

Ric sighed, He admit that what Simon is saying makes a lot of sense. "So what do you propose to do ... as my friend," He asked.

"Sell it to my organization instead," Simon answered immediately.

    "How much?"

    "50 cents on the dollar."

"You want 50 percent of everything I have?!"

Again Simon shrugged. "I don't see why not because if you sell your stuff to the government, they will want 60-70% of the total. My organization is vast and we have buyers already lined up for whatever you want to sell. Those that we consider being far more valuable can be displayed in a built-in auction house that has the influence to attract the rich and powerful. I think 50% is more than reasonable since we do have the capability to liquidate your assets to hard currency faster than anyone else."

Ric leaned over the table. "I highly doubt that," He said simply. "You seem to peg me as just another lucky guy who somehow stumbled upon a 100 bars of nazi gold and to try to squeeze me in everything you can get your hands on. I know you won't believe me but still, let me put this in a perspective you might understand: I am currently in possession of enough resources that will rival the GDP of both the united states and japan combined. I have more gold that fucking Smaug the dragon ever had. I know your mind will start wondering where I got it, but what you really need to think about is HOW I got it!"

A flash of steel and the sturdy table was cut in two and both fell to the ground with a crash. Simon did not move an inch but flinched when his glasses who a second ago is snugged quite comfortably on top of his nose, cracked cleanly in half and also drop to the floor. Simon now turned white as he gawked at the shining long sword that Ric is holding which was the only evidence of what Ric did.

"Here is what's going to happen next," Ric said darkly, his eyes almost shining from the LED light. "

Ric spread his senses and he can sense the 4 black clad men just waiting behind the two doors behind and in front of him. They were holding silencer pistols and the way they hold it told Ric that they are very good with their weapons.

Sadly, no matter how fast the velocity of the bullet is, it will not penetrate his skin. Only mana infuse weapons have the possibility to hurt him now and even then it has to be the powerful kind, Level 10 and beyond. And if the bullet is somehow made of metal infused with mana, then it will not fly from the kinetic force of the gunpowder explosion anyway. The moment these group of people enters this room, then he will massacre each and every one of them, including this Simon.

luckily for Simon, He likes the brass nerdy guy.

"Here is what's going to happen next," Ric said darkly, his eyes almost shining from the LED light. "The way I see it, you have two choices: One, I give you 20 ingots of gold right now. Give me my 50 percent and you can take your 50 percent. Then we part ways forever. I will not have any dealings with you or your organization ever again."

"You will not have a better deal than-"

"Maybe, Maybe not. Either way, I will not have any more dealings with you. You see, Mr. Simon, I don't mind people profiting but I don't like being shafted. With the money I get from our initial and only deal, I can live a very comfortable life. And if need be, then I can just go to every pawnshop in the continental united states and sell a small amount of stuff. It will take forever I know, but I have the time."

Ric let that sink in, then he gave his option. "Or ... we can become real friends. One that mutually benefits each other, a symbiosis. Not the relationship between a host and a parasite. In return for taking only a 5 percent cut, I can guarantee that you will be my buyer for an entire year. I can sell you a hundred gold ingots right now. then in a week's time another 100 ingots, and another and another... for an entire year. Sometimes we mix it up a little and I sell you silver or platinum ingots instead plus all the other valuable items and material I have."

"How many fucking ingots do you have?!" Simon could not help asking.

Actually, I have just over 200 thousand gold ingots since they are major ingredients for repairing my armor and weapon back then. Now, If we are talking about gold coins, then that one I have in the billions, I killed a LOT of mobs in 300 years. Ric thought wanly.

"I have a lot of them, so don't worry," He said instead.

"And after the year is up?" Simon asked. Ric smiled inside because the man was now clarifying his 5 percent instead of arguing his 50.

Ric shrugged nonchalantly. "We renegotiate. Just to be sure that your organization will not become too complacent."

Ric stared at Simon who was obviously racking his brain and double checking everything. Just a final push then, Ric thought. "I don't know who or what your organization is all about. Maybe a criminal mafia or a shadowy government apparatus, frankly speaking, I don't care. You remain straight with me and don't get in my way, then we will have a long and prosperous relationship for years to come. But of course, it is all up to your decision."

    "Make it twenty percent!"

"... Ten percent. That's my last offer."

"Done!" Simon said suddenly. The tension in the air vanished when Simon gave his very first genuine smile since they started the meeting. Then he extended his hand. "Well then, I believe that this is the start of a beautiful friendship..."
