What is the ETA for VRMMORPGs'?

I don't want to read novels based on VRMMORPG, Instead I want to be able to play those games. In short, I want to play 'SAO' VRMMORPG not read it.

We already have a vr set. not long. Once it gets more popular, we will have it.

If you mean the novel kind, where your actual consciousness is sucked in the false reality, a long time. If you mean a VR game on the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, it probably won't be too long. There are already VRFPS games with multiplayer. If we already have multiplayer VR, it can't be too long.

Some are estimating around 5-10 years while others are estimating 30+. If you are talking full dive unknown.

 

I'm with FieryFox...though...whether it'll be a 'full dive' one like you see in so many VRMMO novels is another thing altogether...that type will take significantly longer imo, heh.

Only time will tell, though we're at least making strides towards it. ^^

 

You can't compare a tv screen ducktaped to your head with an actual VRMMORPG. It will be 100 years minimum before we will get anything close to real virtual reality hardware.

 

Eh, I've been playing some games fulldive already though. It's available on Amazon. It is really cool, you can feel everything just like the real world.

There already are. Just look it up on Steam. Oh, you want to dive into the game world, mind, soul, consciousness and all? Try 100 years, maybe more. Which means unless you're going to be born 10 years from now, you will never see it happen.

We're not just talking about the technology, we're talking about the approval for such technology. These technologies can very easily brainwash people. The health office will not allow it to reach public hands because of health issues. The military will not allow it to reach public hands because it's very useful for interrogations and brainwashing.

 

When you look back 30 years ago what we could do, imagine what they have nowaday in their labs, who know, it might not take 15 years

 

The day we achieve the knowledge and technology to make something like SAO possible... That day will be a scary day.

 

Yes, we have VR set but it's still very far from immersive VR.

 

I can't wait for all the self-important Kirito wannabes that completely destroy the first few VRMMORPGs' economies and ruin everything for everyone around them

 

If you expect for Full-dive VR, then the tech will be heavily restricted, due to mental affect and long-term negative effect on brain( due to full-dive tech must read your brain energy signal and adjust it to fit your action in the selected game, therefore it highly restricted). So, it will take us more than 35- 80 years before the very first prototype of Conciousness Full-Dive is successful. And for another 35 -90 years until the tech comercialize for civilan market( those got their first-hand on this tech would be government/ miltitary forces, then use human giuena pig).
On the other hand, VR googles and Augmented Reality( AuRe) is more safe for the user, and with current tech we have, it not very far of reach.

There's a problem. Even if they're available, how many people could afford the equipment? It'll probably take quite a while for VRMMOs to be affordable for most people. My guess is that something similar will appear in 30 years, but it'll take 50 years for most people to be able to afford them.

 

By the way. This is the only thing available right now and the only thing you should expect to be available until the day you die.
