Well, Daruda explained it well.

The main differences from the old arcade games and Touhou are.

1) Number of bullets, Touhou has more than any you've seen before.
2) Size of your hitbox, the hitbox of Touhou is about 5x5 pixels, meaning that it's a lot smaller than your sprite.
3) Soundtrack, it may sound biased, but it's not, Touhou soundtrack is the best you'll ever find in any game of the genre, that can be easily noticed by the ridiculously huge amount of remixes of its musics that exists out there.

I guess those are the main differences, aside from that, it's pretty much the same as the old Arcade Games... It's a lot more fun though! \(^^)/

Mobage is just shorthand for mobile games--Touken Ranbu and Fate: Grand Order come to mind. It's more convenient for me to play here and there on the go rather than sit consistently in front of my PC.

 

tbh, mobage sounds more like it has to deal with MOBA type games than mobile games.

Strategy, RPG, Shooter, Ummm pretty much everything. I just love good games. Preferably open world with non-linear story. But Games with good stories are very much welcome..

 

Correct Ai-chan! The first one you linked is the 8th game on the series, the gameplay on it is the usual that the games with full numbers use, though it varies in some way at each game.

The second one is the 10.5, it's a fighting one made with Twilight Frontier IIRC, it's the one I'm playing atm, while it is pretty fun, it is quite different from the usual bullet hell that you get at the main games.

Joke aside, i used to play jrpg and few fighting games in ps2.
For now, i rarely played games except few like touhou

 

Fair enough. Mine's taken from the Japanese equivalent, モバゲー , which is technically a portal for a mobile game company but....grew beyond that to mean other things.

Mostly because my mobages are all Japanese. :9

 

Funny that you made this joke, I've never seen anyone believe Touhou was an anime.

Probably because of ZUN's policy of avoiding any big Anime to be made, in order for people to know the original work isn't an anime.

 

Ahh, i've found few in youtube. Many PV or MMD that was definitely too good for zun's drawing with view more than ten thousand view usually had one or two of that comment. Usually commenter were literally random who definitely never watching anime.

 

Yeah, I saw some with really nice art, but even so, they are usually with only a few episodes, and only last about 10 minutes each, they are usually made by the fan community, since Touhou has a super big community.

What is this about CNN and bad apple though? I know nothing of that.

You know Bad Apple which is actually black-white MAD? Apparently, it was found by someone in CNN.
When they make it news, they never mention the source (which Nico nico Douga) or even saying where this was come from (someone said it was original).
That was okay. The most idiotic was they said it was a stop motion which really realistic, not a CGI.
Thus, that was how CNN turned into Cirno News Network in touhou community. Because they didn't check fact and assuming things.

A funny thing about Bad Apple, is how lots of people know it, but only the remixes, most people that heard it, that aren't into the community, never heard the original one.

... Actually, that's true for most touhou songs, remixes are a lot more famous than the originals for people that don't play the games... It always surprises me...

All of this happened because the fans dedication. Really, the community had the too many fanwork from every franchise. Song, fangame, doujin manga, heck almost all touhou game in console were fanmade (except 14.5). And the quality were as high as similar genre game.

This is what happened if there's no cease and desist nor limitation from owner plus owner dedication. Scary...

And yeah, the fangames have a pretty high quality! It's amazing how much they can do! Specially art-wise, which they usually end up a lot better than ZUN himself does! \(^^)/

I stopped playing touhou since v7 I think, a lot of time ago, did it get nicer?

I like to play a strategy game. Rapid time game is not bad too.
well I am almost play everything as long the story and gameplay is good.

PS: Right now Excellent Graphics is one of my requirement to pay the game.There are a lot of game that have an Excellent graphics right now, so the game with an ugly graphics is meh. For me though.
