Basically just a time waste forum game. Spoiler: Running the game Choose a word, phrase or quote. Post it replacing all letters with *'s or some other symbol. Numbers and symbols may be used in the word, phrase or quote but do not get censored out. ie, Terminator 2: Judgement Day -> ********** 2: ********* *** Tell players what category the word, phrase or quote is form. Category Examples. Geography: Mount Everest, North Korea, Atlantic Ocean, Mississippi River, Lake Superior, Canada, Europe Movies: Matrix, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Look Who's Talking, The Raid. Actors: Brad Pitt, Chris Hemsworth, Kate Blanchett, Ellen Page, Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic. Quotes: "I'll be back.", "Imagination is more important than knowledge." ~Albert Einstein, etc... Phrases: No news is good news, Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today, Didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Wait for players to post all the initial letters. (5 consonants and 1 vowel.) Reveal all of the chosen letters in the phrase in a new post, quoting all the players' posts to let them know the game is progressing. Decide if an extension is necessary. Wait for however many letters the extension offers to be posted. Reveal all of the chosen letters in the phrase. If no more extensions are warranted. Wait for players to guess the word, phrase or quote. Reveal any parts of the word phrase or quote that have been guessed correctly. (See Example Round.) Announce the winner. If you want to, award a like. Let the player decide if they want to run the next round. If not they may: Choose the word, phrase or quote for the next round and pass it to me via PM/Convo. Or you if you're willing. Choose to forgo any involvement in the next round. If you want to run another round you can, if not I will or someone else can volunteer. Spoiler: Extensions An extension is basically allowing the players to choose additional letters to be revealed. Should be given primarily when it's felt impossible or frustratingly un-fun to finish the puzzle otherwise. Do one extension at a time. Try to limit the number of revealed letters to 13. Try to follow this pattern: 1st Extension: 2 more consonants 2nd Extension: 2 more consonants 3rd Extension: 1 more vowel Repeat Pattern Spoiler: Playing the game The point of the game is to correctly guess the word, phrase, or quote. Players may initially post up to 5 consonants and 1 vowel. A player may only post one letter at a time. Then must let someone else post a letter before posting another. The vowel must be the last of the 6 initial letters to be posted. Once all 6 initial letters have been chosen the game runner will reveal any of those letters in the word, phrase or quote. Unless an extension is given to allow more letters to be revealed, players must then try to guess the word, phrase or quote. Winner gets a like from me and maybe others. Spoiler: Example Round Game Runner chose the phrase: Rule the world. Game Runner posts: Category: Phrase **** *** *****. Game Runner waits. Player A posts the letter D. Player B posts the letter T. Player F guesses Rule the World. Game Runner announces that Player F won the round and determines who is running the next round. For this game the consonants are BCDFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWYXZ and the vowels are AEIOU So, Y will never be considered a vowel. Alright done I edited it in. You still need someone else to post the next letter before posting again, though.
The vowel has been used ... so no. At least for now. In just a second that will be done. Gotta remember to do that first from now on.
Done. So, should I only reveal it if the entire phrase is correct or reveal any portions that are correct?
Just to be clear I did say that I would only reveal 5 consonants and 1 vowel. Otherwise it's just a matter of time until everything is revealed. At this point you need to be guessing at the qoute. I've decided I will reveal any parts that are correct. It's also now a free for all so you can guess again as soon as I respond to your first post. No need to give someone else a chance.
