Do Zoids count as mecha? If yes then that's another mecha anime i've watched.

Zoids was definitely good, until they did the whole fusion stuff in season 3.

I enjoyed the 1st Season with its Wars and with the different kinds of Zoids they showed. 2nd Season was okay with how they introduced the Match system instead of another War. Btw Blade Liger and Liger Zero Panzer mode were my faves.

Blade liger was cool and I liked all the CAS modules for Liger Zero (only thing I didn't like was Schwinger orange color scheme, it should have been red, but I guess then it would be same as the red blade liger that shows up later)

Others I liked were: Berserk Fury and the Shadow Fox.

I look in the lines of "Super Robot" and "Real Robot". Its a term that is more 'prevalent' in Super Robot Wars enthusiasts, if you will.

    Both are fun. :p

    Love a good mecha.
Gundam in its many flavors (most recently iron blood orphans)
    RahXephon
Heroic Age - ok they aren't robots but they look and act like them even if they are huge bio suits that form around their partners.
    Fullmetal Panic
Knights & Magic (novel is better than anime)

Nothing cooler than big hunks of metal duking it out.

Everyone loves giant robots, it was said on Megas XLR intro, and as such, it is an uncontestable truth of this world, anyone that says they don't love mecha is lying.

While I wouldn't say I hate mecha, it is the only genre I avoid. It just doesn't appeal to me.
I find big robots clashing pretty boring. Yes the person inside the mecha is sufering horrible shakes from impact, hitting his head and maybe bleeding, but I just want them to GET IMPALED ALREADY, or for the whole robot to fall on them and crush them. Like, no don't fall in the water I want to see you dead! So much damage is dealt to the mecha, but the person inside like...hit the walls a few times? I mean he can fall to his death if the robot is destroyed but that's boring.
I would be fine watching a mecha if its a good story though

I don't dislike mecha, but I prefer space operas with a slightly more realistic lilt.

For instance, I love Sidonia no Kishi and TV shows like Battlestsr Galactica.

My impression of mecha is that some of the abilities are kinda ridiculous and crazy, and it's difficult for me to take it seriously. Don't get me wrong -- I love machines, but I feel like part of the beauty of machines is that they aren't perfect, and it's much more about the ability of the operator sweating with all his concentration on a well-oiled rustic bicycle than an OP driving a fully-automatic machine with invincible abilities.

How to describe it? The more "pure" the machine, the more romantic it is to me. Kind of like how stick shift is cool, and automatic transmission cars just ruin all of the elegance.

Maybe it makes me a hardcore science fetishist in the sense I feel like I want anime and manga to take space operas seriously with the physics and the engineering, but it rarely happens because mecha is a lot about "looking cool" rather than making the setting believable.

If you like space op' try legend of galactic heroes It's quite long but well worth the time. :blobnosebleed:
I also quite enjoyed the way space battles were done in Crest of the stars, it felt like undersea submarine hide-and-seek battles, pretty original with a good hefty amount of suspense and tension... :blobsalute:

I don't particularly hate it. It's just not my kind of genre. I like the fantasy/magic/cultivation kind of novels~

I like mecha but not all, for instance in gundam series, only about half or less are good ones and others are garbage. Code geass, macross f, legend of galactic heroes, muv love, 08th ms team, etc.. ussually ones with good stories I prefer.

Is legend of galactic heroes really mecha? Sifi sure, but mecha? Its been a while but they fought with normal guns, jets, ships and tanks. I don't remember robots being there...

I was first exposed to mecha when I was but a wee tiny potato. I got my first playstation and the first game i got was Super Robot Taisen Alpha. I didnt have a memory card so i couldnt save but man was the game fun. Really got me into a lot of mechas, stuff like Mazinger, Getter, and all that good stuff.

First mecha I've watched is gundam Seed. Being in impressionable age coupled with the opening of gundam seed, made me seek mecha anime.
