Discussion Why do you hate mecha?

I like some of them.... but why are some of the ones I see around so uselessly gaudy, and some seem impractical. Why do they always have them human shaped, no matter the situation?! If it's going to be fighting in space with long range weapons, just make it a damn ship and not a human. What use are legs in empty space?! What use are arms to hold the guns? Just have the guns directly attached to the hull!

TL;DR: In general, I somewhat like them, but if having them gaudy and human shaped is a man's romance, then my romance is practicality*, so I do not completely like them.

*(fictional practicality [if practicality is the right word...?] If it makes good sense in the story's universe, it's amazing~ cool~)

It's boring as heck for me . If I wanna robots then I can just watch any boring robot western movies :|

It's boring , predictable , kinda suckish and the mc are straight garbage usually relying on machines

I like Votoms and Patlabor, but don't really care much for the rest of the genre.

 

Probably someone above has same comment as me, but i kinda hate mecha anime because of the politic involved... as i hate complicated plot...

 

I might be weird but i hate reading about Mecha but I love watching it in an anime or visual medium. I guess something similar is some people rather watch anime than read manga.

 

I hate mechas.

Too me they are too unrealistic. Why do you need a robot in a humanoid form? Humans have the single worst fighting body out of all the animals around. If you are flying in space while sitting in a box in a mecha why do you need legs? Why do you need wings? Why do you need arms? You don't. A simple Ball would be a much better fighting tool. You could minimize your space that is able to hit you and still wield a sword better than a human as you could easily push out 20 random arms out of the ball to fight (assuming swords can block gun shots and thus you need swords to fight instead of guns).

 

Hate mecha. I feel like its a convenient way to dumb down the combat

Its just a stereotype m8.
Like what parents love to asume.
They give a robot and vehicle toys to their little boy.
And they give a barbie and its dress up / make up kit toy to their little girl.
The girl might like the robot toy the boy got more... but the parents will just asume she likes the barbie anyway..

 

I guess it is not technically mecha but still you got the usual giant futuristic spaceship battles common in mecha animes. Still, I see mecha as just a tool for combat much like ships, planes, tanks and such because they are. I don't really see any legit reason here to hate mecha other than prejudice and petty excuses. magic and fantasy is no different than scifi.

 

Same reason people don't like guns in novels, results in kinda boring fights.

Then you'll have stupid shit like a mecha with a sword lmao.

Mecha + Harem is okay, but Mecha by itself = zzzzz.

I'm totally fine with mecha as long as it is not the main focus. Just the matter of preferences i guess. Mecha could even spice up some stories to be interesting as long as it is done in moderation ~

The only full mecha anime that i really liked is Eureka Seven Ao even with that horrendous ending ( Couldn't find myself to like the original Eureka Seven idk why )

 

I love Mecha, I just wish they'd actually kill off the Female Love Interest pink haired Rebellious Princess who prays for, "Love! Peace! Mutual Understanding!"
