They're honestly better than most of the JP novels i've read I can at least enjoy the slight bouts of difference. I always end up with a bruised forehead whenever I read JP novels, face palming starts to hurt.

I mostly read Xianxia for the the OPness. I think this is a common reason. I do read less Xianxia series than I did before. Also, why all the Qiandan hate? There is also the bit where CN novels tend to update more often than other novels. Skip a few months of reading for a JP novel and your probably 10-20 chaps behind, with CN novels you've now probably got 100-200 chaps to binge.

Far less descriptive than western novels and so are easy to digest. Plus, every now and then you are surprised with a new plot concept. OP mc, harem? Where else can I go? Don't point me to JP!
    Yeah, I am addicted.

Because of how easy it is to get an entertainment value

lol, just think about it. Whenever you read a western novel such as nicholas Flamel The alchemist series, Artemis fowl or harry potter, they are highly entertaining, but you have to be intellectually stimulated in order to really enjoy the novel. Else, you would get bored pretty early in the novel. Take harry potter for example... its ladden with misteries and reveals in the end, this is the value of the entertainment. As for progress to harry skills, you're not really sure how powerful he has become right? And most of the time, harry would only beat one enemy per novel.

CN novels would just say Dumbledore is in Grand Wizard realm and harry is noob apprentice, he would be training his levels, beating a lot enemies.. not much misteries... Sometimes people just want to read something about an MC that beats arrogant people.... coz people are so frekin tired of real life arrogant people... So in this sense, the entertainment value is easy to get.

I just read a few okay ones. Overall they tend to be repetitive and spiral downwards in the mid-end.

They are interesting at first but get more boring and boring as you go along. Though that is probably because many of them drag towards 1000 chapters.

But most people here read for same reason, entertainment.

I like NTR in the past... but now I so hate it, but NTR scenes still lingered inside my head and is giving me headaches... to wash away those awful scenes inside my head, I read CN, coz most CN novels especially when the MC starts the slaughter feast, the blood from those arrogant fools kinda cleanse away those NTR scenes and I temporarily forgot them and I'm kinda healed and gives me some sort of immunity against NTR like, fvck it try to NTR me and I'm gonna start an Imperial Massacre. So yeah

I only like a specific type of CN novels tho. The happy end ones, where everything goes in the MC's favor. It's like a drug, it makes you feel good and you can't stop.

It's because I was bored, plus I was bored, and then I was even more bored, and so long story short I was seriously bored.

For me, it's because I'm out of things to read. So I just read them. That's why I'm not even that attached to CN novels anyway. There are still JP and KR novels out there.
The 1st reason why I read this, or more like the very reason why I started to read CN novels was because when a lot of your favourite JP novels got licensed then DMCA. So then I started to find more novels to read, which then I stumbled upon Aho-updates, which then lead me to CN novels then KR novels.

I might be the odd man out, but I love the Training and Cultivation.
Both these tie into a mystical ancient feeling. The ambiance of eastern mysticism.

I started out with the xian ni (renegade immortal) manhwa, got intrigued and curious because I had never read anything like that before. Found out from a forum that it was a light novel and after getting impatient with the slow release of the manhwa, I searched and found the light novel and binge read 170 chapters. Like a drug addict with the shakes, I embarked on a quest seeking for more and while invoking the spirit of Indiana Jones excavating buried treasure in hidden temples, I stumbled upon coiling dragon. Binge read the massive volumes of translated releases, followed by stellar transformations, issth, world of cultivation, way of choices, warlock (massive wanker) of the magus world..the rest as you know is history (.....strongest senior brother?).

Well, there were a couple of god awful ones I avoid like a plague namely peerless martial god (aka peerless repetitive god), martial god asura (aka repetitive god asura), martial god space (aka repetitive god space), do you see a pattern? Hmmm...I thought it was just me.

Anyway, I still follow a few really good titles with stellar translation (...hehe..). Why do I still read them? It's very different from Western fantasy that are largely event driven and focused on several characters of importance. Typically a dark lord or force of evil has arisen from centuries of slumber or a sealing has been broken and now a chosen one (usually some kid living a mundane life) is given some special power and must assemble a merry band of highly specialized weirdos to go on a quest to save the land or it's a story like Game of thrones that is filled with political intrigue in a medieval setting with lots of backstabbing, sex and warring.

That's all enjoyable but when your favorite fat ass of an author is busy giving numerous interviews and doing everything but finishing his book before obesity kills him, you sometimes need a change of pace for something entirely different. A genre of literature that simply details the trials and tribulation of the hero's journey from humble beginnings to martial supremacy or godhood while also attaining philosophical enlightenment can be quite satisfying. Sometimes it feels like I'm reading a procedural video game story where our hero has to level up frequently to fight the next boss except for a few gems like Way of choices where the pace is slower but an enriching experience as all the drama and political machinations build towards a massive payback to the reader.
