I have looked at several European sword histories and such and never once have I found such a thing as a "cross blade". It seems to me to be referring to just a basic longsword. Just a basic search on Google will only get you smart cars, shrukiens, and trinkets. If you use Bing you also get blades for blenders. I want to know if my assumption is right and the term "cross sword" is just a poor translation talking about a sword with straight crossguard that's perpendicular to the blade. Also would it be referring to a long sword or an arming sword? I think it could be either. Spoiler: Blender blades Spoiler: Obligatory unrelated awesome swords German Kriegsmesser (Means War-Knife) Various Scottish Claymores (Search Basket hilted claymore) Nepalese Kora Sword (Blade is on the inside)
thats a good question, for some time now I too think that it is a sword with straight cross guard perpendicular to the blade. however, sometimes when reading it, a blade with a cross near the point comes to mind, though I dont think it is pratical, something like this Spoiler: crossblade
That's what I meant by shrukiens, however that is absolutely ridiculous in context. @OMA you are the translator right? Could you help?
a cross blade is something along the lines of as it tend to look like a christian cross when held by a suit of armor something like I that they tend to be about leg length long (1 meter, or 3 feet) and between 2-3 fingers wide (2-4 cm, or 1-1.5 inch) with a handle that is between 1.5 -2.5 hands and a pommel on the end for balance. The guard is typically strait or slightly curved towards the blade to allow for better push or pull when thrusting into or pulling out of from a top down position. cross blades tend to be longer than long swords but shorter than broad swords as they can be used one-handed or two-handed and tend to rely on there weight to knock opponents down and then finish them off
definitely a sword where blades cross http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Zwill_Crossblade?file=ZwillCrossblade-ffxii.png
It's not a shurikien, it's supposed to be held in the middle where you can therefore use the four blades on it to attack. Of course, I support the other people's answers instead right now.
your image was more of a cross wheel than a cross blade. Not used in WMW but used in BF (Battle Frenzy) though the other one shown is more like what was used in there i think.
if it looks like a giant shuriken how do you even use the thing because leylin doesn't throw the thing.
