I know that it is already licensed by yenpress but who here wants to take a gamble? If there is someone here willing to translate it, I would buy the novels raw. Of course I would provide a website as well for it to be posted just like what they did with overlord volume 10 and above. I just could not wait for yenpress to release translations for it since it may take them years. What do you guys say?
If it's already licensed you're out of luck, i doubt any translator would risk a hefty fine and possible jail time (not sure what the punishments would be) just to give some leechers a chance to read a novel, then again i may be wrong.
Well Nigel did translate volume 10 and 11 of overlord which is also licensed by yenpress. So I was thinking of doing something like that
Most translators are translating because they want to bring novels to people who can't read them, and to get some recognition out of the deal too. Some others are doing it for cash. Find a translator thats willing to do it without the recognition, (I.E, you're hiding their name) and just throw it up on a cheap or free website
I used to use a CN site with if not all, then most of the raws and GT-read it, but they seemed to have shut down everything after Vol 3 there, even with wayback, but there's also a sort of bbs site where the JP raws exist, but it's not really very orderly. And to be honest, it's a lot of effort to translate Youjo Senki chapters, and they want the credit for it, so I doubt very many people would risk it.
Yeah the thing is that, the English one would not be available here in my area except maybe amazon but that as well may be a hit or miss. I was thinking of putting it in a guise of a fan fict novel
I'm not uptodate with Overlord nor that familiar with Nigel, so I don't know if he ever did a post about why he did it, so I can't really say.
The biggest problem aside from being licensed is... Youjo Senki is a pain to translate. Even looking at published English translation give me a pause if I want to translate it to my native language. Too many info dumps. When I first read the prologue I thought Carlo Zen is writing a thesis in light novel format. BTW I also think Carlo Zen redefine 'light' in LN.
I had a look at the chinese translations (don't know japanese) and man the series is heavy with references, puns and difficult terms. So good luck to your friend if he will attempt it.
Well, the good news is, vol 2 has been released by Yenpress and more are coming, so you don't need to search for a translator anymore~
