I hope Qidian ruins their reputation even more. They brought this upon themselves and I hope the fallout will be painful. I hope this shows the judges that Qidian acts in bad faith to more than just one of their "partners" and gives WW more firepower

:hmm: if your assumption is true, i wonder how they signed a 10 year agreement with WW

I expect due to profit sharing on the ebooks. Because gated reading isn't going to take off stateside, book sales would be the largest revenue source.

But weren't you just assuming that their IP's rights gonna expire in the next two years? I'm confused

Oh, I see what you're saying now. I thought you mean the valuation of the IP, not the ending in 2 years thing.

It's probably not one of the authors' currently licensed, alternatively it's not the rights to the IP that's expiring, but the author's contract that is. Resigning said author to gain new novels is going to be far more expensive, and this type of debacle could push them to another platform.

Question. On the quoted text, that means in Qidian contract, the author does have the right for their content after that 2 years?

Without a contract (for reference) we can only assume that it's not the case. Or else QI committed a fraud selling the right to translate to WW for 10 Years. That text you quoted most likely imply that in the next two year the contract of the majors Novel Artists under QI banner gonna expire. And their future works are not under QI until they sign a new contract with them.

I think that means that in two years, they will have to renew the contracts and it will be more expensive now that the authors are well knowned.
Authors can negotiate higher fees or change publishing company.

Now, this is interesting. While they prepared to open IPO, suddenly they got sued for breaching contract.
That's definitely not good for their future investments.

I wonder what will Qidian/Yuewen do next.
Please let us updated if there is any new infos coming.

Well, can't say I'm sorry for them.

But since their networth is in billions, especially via their parent companies' worth of things...

Making them bleed ain't enough. Carve a huge slice of their meat, and one of the people in Qi will properly sober up and learn to do contracts properly in a right way.

China Mobile is huge. You cannot compare state owned enterprises to private ones; Tencent might be a giant elephant, but China Mobile is a friggin blue whale.

Read the news in Chinese. Find something interesting.

    Hmm...
I know that 太古神王 (Ancient Godly Monarch) is already popular in NU.
But what about the other novel. 无尽神器. Endless Artifacts? If it is popular in Chinese, then someone should have translated this right?
