Pay no attention to this blog. It's here to vent my thoughts.

After spending a few weeks in class and working over my thoughts, I decided that the class has a good premise, but lacks somewhat in execution. After the first 2-3 weeks, there have been very few uses of the note-cards besides "Collaboration" and "Restate ideas". Very rarely, another student will use another card, and even then other students will not follow up with cards pertaining to the first student who used their card.

Also, the professor has students writing logs about how they are applying critical thinking outside class. These learning logs can be posted publicly or privately for other students to see. I don't mind the idea of two categories for the learning logs, but the option of commenting on how other students think can also be an opportunity for bettering critical thinking. To explain, the public learning logs allows students to comment on each other's posts, which I think can be used as a place for giving positive feedback on how each student applied critical thinking outside class.

Students also have an assigned date to present a recent article that contains critical thinking. These assignments are submitted as threads in a forum, which can also be commented on. These threads can also be another place to comment and increase student activity outside class as well as feedback on how students can improve their critical thinking.

Playing devil's advocate to myself, a professor grading students on how much they comment on another student's post may not actually increase critical thinking, and it may actually decrease how open a student is on writing down their thoughts.

Anyways, venting done. :blobtriumph::blobmelt::blobcozy:
