The title said it all. It's about making money, doing exam and raising the family. It should not be more similar with other novels that have the same theme, right? In a way, it's similar and different. This author chose a good characteristic for MC and made him and the story flowed nicely and not boring. The author gave us, plenty of friction and problem for the MC to show his unique characteristic in the ancient.

MC name was Lin Ze, slept after a hard days work and put into a miracle transmigration to a scholar in ancient time and vice versa. The Original was the first son of Lin 3rd household, he was genius, at 12 was Tongsheng, xiucai at 15, but after that his luck seemed bad as he alw fainted whenever he was in the exam room and his reputation was destroyed when he was drunk and entered his teacher's daughter yard. His marriage was cancelled and his 2nd brother who was also a scholar was given the marriage with his ex fiance instead. Bad luck after bad luck made his upright kind attitude became loose and irritated, then he got married to a ger. All those things made him to vent his irritation to his husband. One night, after friend made him drunk and provoked him to sell his husband, also his ex fiance cajolled him to give her money and she said stuff like elope. Lucky for the husband that night he drunk, passed out literally and the seat was given to Lin Ze.

Lin Ze's father loved his 1st son, no matter how many times he fainted/sick during the exam, Lin father still willing to let him try. The opposite with his mother who favored the 2nd son who also a scholar, she wanted the 2nd son to success more. After Lin Ze came, he went and accused the mother and 2nd bro were poisoning him at exam days made him to sick. He wanted to separate but he'd still care for his father only. The father believed Lin Ze, and wanted to divorce this evil woman, but was stopped by elders. The mother was angry when the father wanted to give land to Lin Ze so she revealed how Lin Ze was not their son, it was a son the father brought to exchange for her dead baby. The father was angry at this and he also revealed that Lin Ze was his son of his first wife. Long short story, it was the fault of the grandmother not Lin Ze's father, he still loved his 1st wife and still looked for her.

ML was Zhang Yu, he was afraid of the Original because his temper was bad. When Lin Ze came and was kind and good to him, he was suspicious but still determined to escape with his mother rather than being sold. Zhang Yu realized that this Lin Ze was not Lin Ze, so Lin Ze told him everything rahter than making him worried and then ranaway. After that, Zhang Yu decided to watch this Lin Ze first, since all the money and land deeds were in his hand, he could take them and escape if things went wrong or if Lin Ze went back. As for Lin Ze, he was gay and fell in love with his instant husband lol

With the help of Zhang Yu's friend and husband, they cooperated to sell bread and cake that were not available in the ancient. Then, he found sugar beet and with the friend's hubby started to research how to turn sugar beet into sugar so they could have vast resources of money in the future. Lin Ze understood without power all his knowledge and advantages were useless since they could be swallowed by more powerful people. So he decided to still go with the fame route aka be official but he only wanted the title as protection.

Lin Ze fame as scholar was actually good, and after cleaning up his bad reputation, he opened a private school for students especially merchant and poor family. Since merchant was lowest, it was difficult to invite good teacher without flaunting their wealth. The private school was more like crash course to pass the first exam level and to give the students more extreme (at that time) modern view. After doing entrance admission and asking the student himselves, he chose 13 students, 4 of poor families and the rest were merchant's sons. The part of these little monkeys' life in the dorm school and how they got brainwashed XD by Lin Ze were very funny and interesting to read. It was pretty long and complete too. I love reading this. Lin Ze also got 3 disciples to worship him as teacher with their own stories and they still involved with Lin Ze's movement later on. The eldest disciples was alw the third in term of exam but he was also the one to resemble Lin Ze attitude the most, as the 2 disciples were either too polite and having face paralysis, slow in talking/responding (Lin Ze suspected he was a bit autistic kid).

Since Lin Ze wanted to take exam again, he needed to find teacher too. The teacher that was recommended was a middle aged ger who excelled and became champion and had his own story too. The ger teacher felt Lin Ze was interesting if not for his too weird mind and recommended him to someone who education and mind was one level higher than him, it was his own husband. The husband was actually the emperor, this emperor was deemed weak and alw sick but actually he alw went out during his 'sick' leave. Lin Ze unknowingly worshiped the emperor as his teacher, and started to spill all his weird knowledge since he thought this is my teacher, it's safe to tell him lol

Funny happening, after Lin Ze went to capital for exam, the court thought he was the illegitimate son. It was not their faces but their attitude, behavior, temper that made people to see that these two were pretty similar, and how Lin Ze attitude was just like how the emperor back then. All ministers thought the emperor was opening way for the son to secure the throne lol so eventho they were mad and angry of the crazy stuff out of Lin Ze's mouth and action they could only swallow it and retaliate in silent but still unwilling that this shameless man would be their master one day XD Both emperor and Lin Ze didnt bother to deny.

Really, it was pretty interesting novel to read especially the part where Lin Ze shameless attitude and mind made all the old men either to bang their heads or follow his new rhetoric theories lol And the first time I read an emperor disguising himself as merchant to trade and business with his natal family's name.
