I’ve remembered something interesting. I can’t remember where I read it. But someone said people like artworks because everyone also wants to be liked unconditionally irregardless of how they are. I think it’s somewhat true. There’s also the saying “Art disturbs the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.”

To me I think art is a piece of the soul. A message only at that moment of time you can produce. Something words can’t convey. You know the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”? It’s a great form of communication but also very difficult to understand as well.

Many artist are afraid of showing their art to the world or even getting judged by it. We hear it all the time “starving artist”, stories full of bad luck and suffering, a goal of almost impossible perfection. I don’t think artists necessarily have to suffer for art, but they definitely need to agonize. They must research and think deeply of the topic.

I looked back at my older works. And they were amazing even though I was lacking in many skills. I was so afraid, lost, and only drew for the sake of myself. Every point I felt like breaking apart I drew. But now I’m mentally healthier I feel like my art has changed. I can’t create the same agony as before.

Back then I really contemplated if I needed to suffer for art. But now I’ve tried out different hobbies. Picking up guitar, bass, looked at 3D modeling, game design(?) I realized it doesn’t have to only convey suffering. A sub culture or genre: Aesthetics, ideals, a certain lifestyle, from a time that doesn’t exist. Create your best work and let it become a life on its own. Fueled by other’s love and desires, your core ideas will grow and become its own legacy. It is the oldest form of communication from the cave men days. It will evolve and last for thousands of years to come. So don’t be afraid. Art is meant to be seen. No matter how much technology improves, the soul of art comes from humans. Art will always be needed.

@Koro-sensei yes many of the great digital artists these days had engineering or 3D modeling backgrounds. I should’ve payed more attention in math class:blobsalt: I mean even Da Vinci was a genius mathematician.

That's a meaningful insight @MasterCuddler -kun, art is essential that is a balance between being creative and being good with numbers. I do find it intriguing that math and art are different but inseparable in many ways.

@Bad Storm fine arts is definitely a industry I would say to avoid. It’s a hobby for the rich. Fortunately there are many career route in the arts world, so just work smart
