What do you take away from what you read ? This question came to mind when I read some recent comments about someone I greatly admire. . Should you catagorize.. summarize..digest.. analyze.. compare, try to find your own meaning, the authors meaning. Check grammar 'oh he forgot a comma' 'oh that doesn't quite fit the traditional framework of a poem' Or just feel the words.. the imagery..the heartfelt emotions ?
I think putting pen to paper and revealing your innermost thoughts is very brave. Once it is out in the Universe people of varied opinions will love it.. hate it.. be indifferent..be affected.. be unaffected. People are full of opinions for sure. .
Sometimes when I read his work I feel great despair right into my bones. He always makes me feel emotion. Sometimes I want to reach out and give him a virtual hug. Most of the time I'm jealous of his ability to weave a beautiful tapestry out of his pain. I wish he wasn't in such pain but his ability to make me feel is always there and his imagery is amazing.
I think he has a sort of unrestrained genius quality, not one that can be easily catagorized or dissected easily. What does he truly mean, only he knows I think, but I always am disturbed by his level of emotional pain. One time I said I would like to go inside his mind and plant seeds of happiness and hope. He replied it wouldnt be a good vacation destination..
I don't know him but I wish I could absorb some of his pain and he could have a carefree day. His despair at times is both dizzying and riveting and he shares it with us,literally tears come into my eyes after Im done reading his thoughts at times.
Im rambling but my point is I think we should appreciate writers and not try to fit them into a neat little box, picture perfect, grammar just right. Like the cookie cutter houses in a well developed neighborhood, well built but beige and boring. Everyone is at work to pay for their cookie cutter house, the streets are deserted only luxury vehicles parked in driveways, no laughter no human activity just conformity..His work is like a bustling colorful mixed bag city never boring always something to see.. thought provoking.. police sirens.. crowds..makes you feel..
My takeway from reading is always how does it make me feel when it comes to poetic writing.. Isnt that the point ?

@m7vpc I also enjoyed your expressing your opinions ! I will have to write an emotional, illogical, nonsensical poem just for you and post it when I have time ! I don't know if I can write a structured logic filled one but maybe I will try then we can compare notes again.. Haha..glad we are all good, and goodnight !

I don't want you to apologize because there's nothing you did that calls for an apology. You might think that a wall of text from me was me getting really mad, but I wasn't. Also, I don't believe I was overreacting because what I do was take the points of your argument and explain why they are not constructed well and then offer examples. If I have an idea about something you said then I have to provide examples/evidence, hence a lot of words (makes it seem I got mad cause this is online). I don't know why you thought it spiraled out of control.

I will admit that I don't understand how someone would blindly follow their emotions without checking in with their logic, in relation to literature.

I'm willing to continue but it's okay to end it, let's agree to disagree. Thanks for listening and I appreciate you discussing with me because I enjoyed it. I got something out of this so it was worth my time.

Like I said before, I hope you continue that spirit because that's something quite lovable.
