Here to share my favorite potato dish, baked @Hotato soup, it's delicious and very filling.

Ingredients needed

  • 12 slices bacon.
  • 2/3 cup margarine.
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour.
  • 7 cups milk.
  • 4 large baked @hotao , peeled and cubed.
  • (4 green onions, chopped) optional I dislike onions but the original recipe calls for it.
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese.
  • 1 cup sour cream.
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper.
Directions 15 min prep / 25min cook time

  1. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium heat until browned. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
  2. In a stock pot melt the margarine over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually stir in milk, whisking constantly until thickened. Stir in @Hotato (and onions). Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  3. Reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Mix in bacon, cheese, sour cream, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until cheese is melted. You can save some of the cheese and bacon to garnish the top.

It was delish and easy to make! Everyone loved it:)
I will give you a couple hints if AP doesn't mind:p
I use butter instead of margarine
Boil potatoes ahead of time let cool then cube them to add..that way they are perfectly cooked
Take flour in cup with w a bit of cold water and whisk..this prevents lumps..then add to butter in pan whisk together
Add milk gradually as AP said.. carefully bringing to boil keep stirring.. so it doesnt scorch I usually do on med high as soon as bubbles I turn down to low
I also subbed some half and half cream for some of milk to make it creamier..
Soooo gooood! :) :p Of course I had to get up and run an extra mile this morning hahaha:eek::p
Also if you want an easier dish his Lasagna recipe looks super easy

If you know all the terminology used, can do the measurements, and follow the directions? Sure. Just be careful, don't rush and maybe cook it at a slightly lower temp then medium heat.

Would you recommend this recipe to a total newbie who hasn't cooked in their life? :cookie::cookie::cookie::cookie:

I can cook, I just don't normally make dishes like this one...
I either bulk cook for a few days or single serving since I live alone @Emmyy
