Love Is Like Water

Love is like water on a summer's day,
Drink as much as you want yet still feel thirsty
Even as the cool liquid wets your lips
And flows straight down your parched throat
The unbearable craving doesn't fade
Instead, it lingers, it beguiles,
Another sip, another taste
More and more,
You'll consume
And be consumed
Drying out in the process
And suddenly there's a shortage
Of water, of love
You gasp for air,
Begging, pleading,
But it's summer
There is water no more
