Back Up
Every once in a while
We falter and stumble.
Figuratively or literally,
It is something that we all experienced.
We look around to see if we are seen,
Trying to hide the embarrassment
That is seeping to the tip of our ears.
Self-consciousness dyes our mind;
Shame and humiliation and unease
Stains our rationality.
But if there are some words that I can provide
To you in hopes of encouragement,
These are the words that I will say to you.
I have seen sorrow falling down,
Blurring the heavens and the black night
With rain where our bad thoughts can drown.
I have seen dreams crushed by grief,
Lured they were by the mermaid's smile -
Now to be cemented in their past.
I have seen shadows looming the hearts,
Posing as a token of rest and delight -
Only to block all ambition and want.
We once lost our aim and aspiration,
Giving away our control and strength
To someone who exploits in return.
But I have seen more.
Although we falter and stumble,
It becomes okay after a while.
Exhaustion and sadness?
Resentment and failure?
Those are the fuel of something you once dreamt of.
I have seen miracles pass through,
Striking the blues with radiant daylight -
Bidding the cold night a kind adieu.
I have seen the world colored green,
Rough strokes of blue and white
Painting the longed skylight.
I have heard the laughter of the breeze,
Gently tucking the hair behind the ears
And erasing the trails of dried tears.
Every once in a while
We falter and stumble..
And that is okay.
We aim and miss,
But we score so much more -
The life you found fault was not the core.
It will be fine,
So shrug it off -
Don't bow your head in submission;
Dust yourself back up.
