From what I've seen and heard, something really funny and yet at the same time bad happened.

So a guy very obviously and blatantly stated in front of all the ruling people of our country the obvious fact.
That almost every one of them should be sent to prison from the army or otherwise for high treason, and note that what he said is a fact.

Of course, they, in turn, called him out for that and now he's chased by the whole police, while the person himself stated that he will turn himself in, in less than 48 hours. If this isn't embarrassing, then what is.

Well, I'm glad that someone called them out on the shit our politicians have done to my country because some of those scumbags don't even deserve to be alive. Still, it's kind of idiotic as what followed next is the obvious result.

But why the fuck do other shitty politicians get away for betraying my country, while he has done nothing aside from state the obvious?

Why the fuck do they get away for selling my home to others?

Why the fuck can they get away with saying that a genocide of our people didn't FUCKING MATTER MUCH on a foreign channel on TV, FOR FUCKS SAKE!

The parliament called coup d'état on him, while yes he was being a bit too much with mentioning the army, the bastards twisted the situation for their own gain.

Those bastards don't deserve to rule Greece for fucks sake!

I'm sad... why has Greece been dealt with such a hand.
On one hand, an idiot that was stupid enough to portray himself as a traitor and worsen the position of his parliament.

And on the other hand, we have literal traitors to my country playing innocent.
People who have with proof, committed high treason.

I think some can be selfless. But not all. Because being selfish gives them a better chance of survival in this world of limited resources.

But I know how you feel, @Slayerwolfx2. My country, Philippines, is also rule by corrupt officials. If not corrupt, then probably stupid. Upright and decent people in the government are rare species (endangered in my opinion). Because as they wade through the pile of schist called politics, they start to change their world views (in order to match to powerful parties) just to win the next election. It's just sad.

I feel like outsiders... foreigners, appreciate Greece more than we do, @Harfang.
You will find so many people on the streets not knowing their history, or stupidly supporting selling the name Macedonia, its annoying!

Well, maybe a minority on the last bit, but it's still annoying when some guys don't know their history.

Politicians keep making the same mistakes and bad decisions to the point you wonder how they can breath unassisted...

Well, it isn't just here, but everywhere, really.

And why is there so much corruption?
Can't people be selfless for once?

It's so sad, especially in a country as venerable as Greece is. I learn ancient Greek in college, and I have a lot of admiration for your country.

But to be honest, the same situation is generalized to the whole of Europe.

In my country, non citizen (while still members of the EU) can vote in municipal election (big deal, mayors have big power here) and there is a recurrent debate of elarging this to every foreigner. I feel you on this...
I am leaving and working in a big city, and there were about half a dozen terrorist attacks in the last year. The Prime minister of the time said that citizen should get used to live with the terrorist threat. Great job, Mr. Prime Minister.

Since the 1980, every single president has been implied in at least one big financial scandal. The last elections, there was even a mediatic coup d'état. The first runner up had been destroyed over something that was more releving of a grey area than strictly illegal, while the one who made it instead had been known for detourning state founds to use for his own campaign.
It's less visible, but we have the same problems here.
Sultan Erdogan and his discours to Turc/Muslim immigrants about not assimilating and taking power positions in their host countries is making a bad situation even worse.
However, I maintain my position about no violence. We have a proverb here : do your duty and so be it. When you can't change a situation with your strength alone, do at least what you can. If everybody did that, the world would be perfect. If the majority does that, it can still turn. If only the minority is still working... well, we have a situation as of now. Two possibilities : people began to work again, or they don't. In the second eventuallity, the current order of things may fall.
It is a very simplistic analysis, there is wayyyy more factors to include to have a real working model. But, as says Granny Sophie : life is not easy.

But @Slayerwolfx2 keep in mind that your country withered the Egyptian, Roman, Turkish invasions, and managed to keep its culture and history. You are a great nation, and you can be proud of that.

Well, @Harfang, it's a slow death, at least painless...
At this level I doubt anything can be done, as no matter how kind of intentions one politician might have, it will be near impossible to influence the decisions of the corrupted ones on his own.

I mean, we are at the level where we sold the name of Macedonia to others...

Yea, history just has to get even more twisted.
If you want to destroy a country, first go for its history and religion, then for its tradition and people.

Like, where would you see other countries giving the right to vote to foreigners... complete foreigners!

      Ok, need more?
Would you see anyone in the Parliament twisting a No to a Yes?
The question was about Brexit, and we said to leave, while he heard stay...

One who let Cyprus on its own fate when Turkey went with "Αττιλας 2" on its own, saying it was far from Greece while being on Greek grounds (corruption +1) (a bit old though)

      More?
Then what about 2 freaking days ago, that because the police headquarters is made to not catch the anarchists, the chief took the liberty of catching them (the anarchists) with his decision when they attacked the police.

      Wanna guess what they found?
From the 11 people they caught, 2 were immigrants, 9 Greeks of which one of them is working in the Parliament and still is.

      Oh the joy!

Corruption is a terrible thing, however, a large scale rebellion is even worse. Do you prefer to have a rundown house or not even a roof to put above your head? Violence isn't a solution.
What people need to do, is to promote good local politicians, who can in turn try to fight against corrupt ones. But it takes time and efforts. Lot of them.

Well, at least it's not all sad and drippy...
Corruption ain't going away any time soon in any place, though it doesn't mean that we should be accommodating about it, we also shouldn't beat our heads over it.

This whole thingy is just the recent drama, something that I'm pissed off, because hypocrites.

Summer has cometh to the lands of every world!
Getting that rant out of my head was nice and all, but for now imma focus on more productive things such as my novels~

Here's the thing...corruption is a tool of power. If you are a ruling governing official on the more democratic side of the scale(the other side of the scale being tyranny), you will find it hard to acquire allies to help you maintain rulership if you don't give them something.

In the best, worst democracies the corruption can come in multiple forms such as loopholes in certain laws that don't restrict your allies business or the way they spend their money, turning a blind eye to the dealings of their underlings, or even just a plain old bribe. Although the problem with bribes, at least bribes of money, is that they are easily tracked or discovered by individuals or organizations such journalists or other factions of the same government.

Unfortunately, corruption isn't going to go away. Even if you put the most angelic, kindest, empathetic person in power, who refuses bribes and other corruption and diverts more resources towards the general populace, they still have to contend with competitors who are willing to take those bribes and be corrupt. It would be like fighting with 1 or more arms tied behind your back. Nearly impossible.:(
