Goose barnacles are a delicacy beloved by the people of Spain and other European countries. They are about fifteen centimetres long, composed of a dark-colored cylindrical stalk and a head enveloped by a dozen or so shells arranged in a flower-bud pattern that makes it look like a goose's neck, hence the name.
