So I was looking at books to borrow from the library. I found one book where I recognize the name but know nothing about. It seems like its supposed to be a classic. I couldn't find the summery so i looked it up to find the summary and some reviews. I realized that google has a section for reviews. I thought I would click around read one or two and then open Good Reads or something. I skim through a couple, all of them are positive and about how the MC is such a great protagonist, I then go to click out. I glance at one last one and its negative. I was intrigued and curious. After all it was the first negative review so far. The review was simple and short but it shocked me. It went a little like "Thumbs down 1 star. Trash book. That's all there is too it. *Insert MC name here* dies at the end and it's a waste of your time." I now regret reading reviews on google. I'm still going to read the book but its kinda bumming to know the ending. If I wanted to know the ending I would have looked it up.

That's how I felt too but i decided to try it out and I actually liked it. For me I can enjoy it if I choose to read it rather then being forced to read it and write a 5 paragraph essay.

Something about being forced to read the classics in school has somewhat put me off of ever reading anything older than 50 years. I chose to read the great gatsby by myself and thought it was wonderful, though. And I tried to read some others, but I either thought the pace was too slow or the premise was uninteresting, but that was when I was a more novice reader and had less patience for really giving a book a chance. As a less novice reader I now try to read what I think I'll like. Hm, it's nice to be able to find what you like.

I get it. I used to go the newest books but none of them seemed interesting to me at the time. while I have found some i enjoyed I haven't had much luck recently. Then I decided to turn to the classics. I haven't really read any books that can be called a classic. I'm still new to reading and thought it would be good give myself a little reading culture haha Also, thanks I'm glad you like my blogs:blobsmilehappy:

You've written so many blogs. They have sustained me greatly. And for that I thank you. So many people are trying to write something important, but you're just writing what you're thinking, and it's sooo much more interesting/entertaining. Again, thank you.

I stopped looking at goodreads for books. Instead I started asking people on reddit. Most of the most popular books are depressing or too self-important. I think I won't read a book if the first 2 or 3 most upvoted reviews are negative.
