Lucky but unlucky~

When you buy tickets from a raffle, what do you genuinely think your chances are? Are you the type that doesn’t care if they win and takes part just for the fun of it? Are you the one that buys the ticket and has a feeling that they’ve definitely won something? Are you the one that acts like they don’t care if they win or not but inside is praying like hell they win? Or are you the opposite and always thinks I know I haven’t won anything?

Yesterday I shifted through all those motions..

There was a Christmas festive event at the place I volunteer and I was helping out at the event as well. I was mainly at the front desk, responsible for welcoming and dealing with any enquiries visitors had. At the welcome desk they also had a raffle which had some okay prizes but nothing I was interested in if I’m honest.

So I thought to myself, “I don’t really care about the prizes, I’ll just buy tickets to raise money at the event”. Once I bought the tickets though I suddenly had this feeling of confidence that I’ve surely won a prize. I felt lucky. Now fast forward a few hours to when they were gna pick the winners.

First pick, someone won tickets to the local football match. I’m not a fan of the team so I wasn’t fussed much. Second pick, another person won a prize. Third pick, another person won a prize. I’m sitting there casually watching people win and suddenly I feel like I’m losing hope bit by bit. I found myself really wanting to win. It made me laugh at myself internally. Especially when some people passed on their prize and they had to re-pick tickets. I felt little bursts of hope. So pathetic lol.

Well I didn’t win anything in the end. When the raffle ended I just said to myself, “well I knew I wasn’t going to win anyways”.

*sighs*

So that was the unlucky part. Now check this out for lucky. I did the welcoming while my colleague sold the raffle tickets. During the day I covered him briefly and sold tickets to only 3 people. And all 3 won a prize. Wtf!!! The tickets I bought I should have sold to myself. I would have have won a prize for sure then. Or maybe more haha~
