I just wish I could have
'A Road Not Taken.'
Or just to stand
'In the shoulder of giants.'

Cause I know
'Nothing gold can stay'
So I want to cut
'A Poison Tree'

And yet I realize
This is my 'Sonnet 18'
And that all I need
Is a 'Poem of my own'

I used intertextuality in the poem. Hope someome knows all of them or you could search for them to know what I meant.

Lol @Bad Storm i don't want to make a girl cry, that's all.

If there's one thing I am good at, it's messing with people. A lot of people can testify to this, even my worst enemies will not deny my talent in this field.

Just today, my little brother was running after me with a knife in his hands. A day or two before this, my friend chased me out of my own house.

@Tramsloof The last one means that I should create my own piece to be acknowledge by the world. And the shoulder of giants is just an expression, coz I realy love that phrase.

@Emmyy i was messing with @Bad Storm lol. I knew what she said by reading what you replied, I was just punishing her for deleting th post by giving an explanation...lol

Actually, I myself gained the appreciation for poetry too late in my life. Maybe about 6-7 months ago. I have actually been studying poetry since my early childhood due to the intense love my father has it for it. And although I kept studying it throughout my school, I never really gained appreciation for it until I chose English Literature as one of my majors.

Then, as soon as I read Milton, I was smitten. Then I read Keats and Wordsworth. Coming to Robert Frost, he has an anti nature kind of approach, the man alone to fend for himself against all the hostile forces. He didn't appeal to me at first.

But as I read him more and more, and gave myself some time to think, his poetry came to grow on me. Now I really like Frost.

I do love A Road Not Taken. That was a cool idea you had for a poem.tbh I was never interested in poetry til I read Clozdark when I first joined NUF. It is now a habit of mine to read read the poems and blogs. I find them very enjoyable and writers in here are becoming more prolific so its awesome ! Coffee and a poem.. nice way to start the day !

Lol, I don't know the 'in the shoulders of giants' but the rest clicked instantly. Actually I greatly enjoy Robert Frost and William Blake. Shakespeare too, my appreciation for his poems is different than what I have for Robert Frost and William Blake.

And the 'Poem of my own', should be yours. If not, I don't know this one either.

      But good work!

      Not a fan of sonnets...
But our English Literature requires us to learn them...

      *yawns*

      Yet still can't understand it...
