In the Philippines there's quite a number of horror stories told to the masses, especially with the upcoming Halloween even the media outlets offer a Halloween Special episodes aired on the televisions.

I remember a story told by my friend, it was about a female college student and her chilling journey ride home.

It was almost 11pm when Nina was on her way home from her part time job, she was exhausted from the day's work and even though she lived a 20 minute walk away from her house she took a jeepney (A common transport in the Philippines.) instead.

At first there were a few people on board but slowly they got off the jeepney one by one when they reach their destination, Nina's house was the jeepney's last stop that night so along with the driver she was left on board alone in the jeepney.

But Nina suddenly felt something was wrong. The jeepney turned the wrong way from its usual direction it drove further away from her destination. She immediately became aware that she was in danger.

'Is the driver going to kill me?' she thought.

She looked towards the driver and saw him looking at her at his rear view mirror pale.

Nina was scared, she didn't know what were the man's intention towards her. But a moment later she noticed something, it was a convenience store near her house she was almost home. She asked the driver to stop and the jeepney stop across the street from her house.

As she was boarding off the jeepney, the driver called out to Nina and said.

'Ineng, (an endearment to call young ladies. It varies to each region in the Philippines.) When you get home take off all your clothes and burn them.' the old driver said in a serious tone.

'Why?' Nina asked the driver.

'Because, when I saw you on my rear view mirror you have no head. So I drove the jeepney around until it returned, so when you go home burn all your clothes so that the bad luck would disappear.' he said then he drove off.

When she returned home, Nina followed the old man's instructions and burned all of the clothes she was wearing that night, prayed and then she went to bed.

The next morning Nina woke up from the smell of her mother's cooking, she got up and went to the kitchen. Her mother was cooking breakfast as she listened to the morning news.

It was reporting a road accident just a few blocks away from where she lived, there's a lot of casualties and when she heard about it Nina cried.

It is said that when you saw something out of the ordinary, it means you are warned of an impending misfortune.
