In every novel I have read, there is really one character that destroys the story for me. Sometimes if their presence is too strong, I opt to drop the story all together.

They are not necessarily evil nor they are the villians. Most of the time, they are confidants or really close to the protags. Their morals are often good just that their actions really annoys me, or they are overly righteous, or they are just there to show the goodness of the protags, like benefiting without working.

I remembered reading Reborn with an Old Enemy on the Day of our Marriage that I have dropped, It is a really good series but it really irked me how MC's dad treated the ML and the ML's father when ML and MC came out of the closet, that is such a double standard, and it really irked me how he (Mc's dad) acts high and mighty.

Or in Zombie apocalypse series, there will be always an arc where they will adopt a child, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against adoption, and for me it is such a noble thing. But I just prefer Apocalypse novel without those elements, sadly 90% of what I have read always go with this route.

Oh, and I have just read The White Cat’s Divine Scratching Post, it is really good btw. But the Fox siblings really isn't my vibe. I just don't like how they felt so entitled to make trouble for others. I know they don't mean it and they are just worried. But really, they just act on what they want without considering the bigger picture so thay ain't my vibe, good thing they were not present after the competition arc finished.

Or in I Married a Disabled Tyrant After Transmigrating, good story btw. I can't really pinpoint why but FL's chicken like pet isn't just my cup of tea. The pet is pretty clever of cute but sometimes it's presence just destroys the scene.

Or in The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass, really good, but I really don't like the presence of Aria's paternal family. I understand that they exist only to correct FL's family views. But they were inserted too late. They are such a good people but they were inserted too late, already on the extras. And the Crotia got benefits by having FL as their citizen without paying anything.

There are a lot more, especially in action-adventure genre, since authors often like inserting tsundere characters to be part of MC's harem. It just irks me how the tsundere characters acts as if the protags and people around them owes them. They act so entitled.

We'll that is a long rant, there are more actually just that I read them too long ago. Idk if you also have characters that actually annoys you. Their presence may be annoying but oh well, patience!

You, Shiroe Ackerman and Agentt like this.

They annoy me, yes. But I have never stopped reading that story for those annoying characters.
