What is it like to converse in a web forum thread?
When we converse face-to-face with a person we can see their eyes; we can hear their voice.
The words are shown in their eyes; brought alive in their voices.
We think we can understand what they are saying.
But how does it feel when we are talking in a forum thread?
From a different space and different time, the words come floating to us.
A formless face; a soundless voice. How do we know what feelings these words convey? At first, it seems so confusing!
But words have their own life. Slowly, they begin to thread a ring across our separate time and space and pull us together to stand within the circle they form.
The smile. The smirk. The scowl. The laughter.
We see them all; hear them all.
Suddenly, we are not strangers any more.
The thread of words is a conversation now.

      Am I the only one who prefers conversing in forums? *sighs*

      I mean, talking isn't my forte...
      But I like listening to other people, their stories and ideas...

      ....

      But this makes sense though...
      Seeing the actual person and connecting with them, their expressions, tone and gestures...
