Waste your time today with Time Waster 2.7! Guaranteed to be terrible, or have a cookie in recompense.
“Haaa~” The cold air of air conditioning is pleasant beyond comprehension. An intrinsic joy.

I'm standing in the dusty waiting room of a mansion, just one of many rooms I've been in since the beginning of summer break.

You see...

My father has a close friend of his, a very wealthy friend. He owns this place and had wanted someone to take care of it. Apparently my dad heard about that, and since I don't do much during summer break....

I was told, "It's time you got some experience working." Afterwards, I was shoved out of my room and shipped overseas to Japan. Where the mansion is. Mind you, I don't know a single bit of Japanese.

....

Not everything has been terrible since, and I do have basic necessities such as electricity, Wi-Fi, etc... Furthermore, I just need to keep this place 'somewhat better off than when I came'. A generous amount of leeway that was given. Cleaning a huge mansion is still a pain though. Even so, I do owe it to my father who was been very lenient to me.

Thinking such, I decide that three rooms is enough for today. It's a little less than what I would prefer... But soon I'll need to tackle the ballroom and I need extra preparations for that.

Haha...

Maybe I could ask for some help? With sign language?

It's probably all hopeless... I know that much from experience. There was one girl awhile back that came here with some friends. It seems like they thought the mansion was haunted or something. The group was at the front door being noisy before one of them was goaded into knocking.

Thinking it would be funny, I waited a few seconds to hear her sigh in relief before knocking on my side.

"Kya!!" Such a weird and high pitched scream came from the other side. Without a doubt, that was the highlight of my week at the time.

Soon followed was some crying though... I felt guilty. Because of that, I opened the door and was going to apologize however I could.

"Iyaa!!"

....

But as someone who stays indoor for the most part, I'm usually paler than others. Add a layer of dusty clothing and—

Ta da~! Quick and easy ghost cosplay.

Apparently.

"Haaam~"

Stretching, I've decided to have dinner a little earlier today after finishing the rooms. I think I'll need to go shopping though, judging by the lack of foodstuffs present. Unless I want pudding for dinner.

...

I may as well read something random on the way to the store.

Thinking such, I turn on my phone and browse NU. Clicking on something random.

Acrine, the capital of the Lyfarian Empire, has awoken to great stirs of discourse as of late. Rumor has gotten across the lands that the Demon Lord Frasser has been slain. Fearful, the human nations have united against this new foe for fear of them being more active than their predecessor. Perhaps this new found lord shall arrogantly declare war upon the entire world.

All awaits in silent unease.

"Onwards! We shan't stop here! It is time we put an end to our fear!" A man riding his horse shouts out to the multitude of soldiers, inciting resolve from their bleak eyes. Men need something to pull them through months of marching. Losing spirit before they've joined up with the center force would be a disgrace to their country, Marisell.

They all would surely be scorned and mocked when faced with the Empire's elites.

"These fools, do they think this is a simple exercise? Practice?"

The rider had hoped that the younger generation would be more serious about this...

And they did after reaching their destination.
————————————————
"Excuse me!! Is this a joke?" A veteran footman stared at the courier with a twisted face.
"I-I'm sorry, but the orders are to return."

After arriving it was made apparent that something was amiss. The lofty banners and men training could not be found no matter where one looked. Only after a courier was sent from a neighboring town had they known of the change in plans.

As it turns out, Frasser had not been slain. All the fuss was over his unruly daughter, who had come of age and decided to wantonly leave without notice. Only a paper note left behind:
'It's time I search for someone interesting.'

The rider, meanwhile, gave a long sigh. At least they wouldn't be disgraced.

Though tons of resources have just been wasted.

Ah, I'm at the store already.

It's just a simple mart of sorts, with no lack of supplies for the average shut-in. They even have mangas in there among other things. Since I can't read the name of the store, I just call it the Emporium. It sounds neat and it's just another word for store.

Whoosh~ The automatic doors open and a jingle plays.

"いらっしゃいま—あ. 英語さん. こんばんわ."

To this day, I still have no clue what's being said.

"Uh, hi again." I wave at the cashier, to which she smiles and nods. I guess she understood? Anyway, as I have been doing for awhile now, I'll just get the things I need and pay for them.

...

But would should I make for dinner...? Fish? Burgers? Should I try and make curry?

I think I'll try making curry. It's nice to try something new every now and then after all. Though, how does one make this 'curry'? And not end up with something Hiei would make?

"どうして? 何があったの?" The cashier asks curiously, tilting her head like characters in anime.

"Uhm?"

"...?"

Well that was a very fruitful conversation.

......

Right, time to google 'how to make curry'.
