Winter
The icicles are getting longer.
The winter rages on
I snuggle beneath cool sheets
Enjoying my own warmth radiating, trapped beneath
I miss your presence
Your breath, your soft skin
The humidifier whispers,
Gurgles, a constant reminder of the quiet night.
I wish for winds to howl.
For floors to creak.
I want to reach back,
To gently pat your form.
To know you are there.
Reassure myself of your happy comfort.
I find myself smiling.
A quieter, lonelier smile.
Pillows greet my touch
But still I smile,
Having thought of you.
