Disclaimer: I do not consider myself a writer since I have never made public a piece of writing I have seriously worked on.

Everyone knows writing is art. A successful piece of art imparts on you a feeling when you experience it. A successful piece of art becomes greater than the sum of its parts creating something unimaginably different and greater when completely assembled. What makes writing different from the other arts? The words? The style of words? The arrangement of words? Most people only use a limited amount of the available words though. And style can be had in all arts. Is writing like a puzzle?

Whosoever arranges the words in the most liked way wins! Or so I would like to think. Words get repeated, words get reread. Nothing is new, everything has been done before. Ah, but my words are different, they are mine! Who would ever want to read my arrangements? Such a laughable idea!

The people will always love happy endings. They will always enjoy seeing the hero triumph over evil. Seeing the star-crossed lovers triumph over fate itself. Why is there so much triumphing? In reality, the greatest triumph I ever have is finding a penny on the ground.

Perhaps if I could just capture it, that feeling. The sort that people hardly ever have the chance to feel for themselves. Do I know any that most people do not? Probably not... I could make it up on the spot. Yes, if most people have never felt something then I probably never have either. Right? It's a perfect crime! Yes, I have found my answer! Writing is like a perfect crime!

@Emmyy lol, what I meant was that writing was to me as is talking to me. Not that I write at the same time as I talk, which I do a lot but not everytime.

And yes, if someone asks me how the food was, if I was still hearing I wouldn't even reply but simply nod my head. I am a food lover, and when I am eating food, all my attention is on the food.

Writing is my way of expressing my thoughts and opinions...
Which is why I enjoy writing essays and poems...
I feel lazy by just opening my mouth and hear my own voice so I write...

      *yawns*

The callouses between my fingers are proof...
I'm just annoyed that no matter how many times I write, my handwriting is still barely legible...

      ....

I read so I could write... And I write so that I could get more inspiration to read...

I imagined you delivering this soliloquy. Ah, Macbeth has just infected my brain and I am still in the process of washing it off. Nicely Written! There's a charm of self realisation in there.

@Emmyy I saw you get wordy, you are still a long way from the championship belt though. Keep up the good work!

And lastly, my take on writing is nothing fancy. I write, as I speak. No, more often than not, I would like someone to write what I say, and you would have piles and piles of books written by me that I would want burned soon after.

I will add writing in itself is an enjoyable endeavor. You create a scenario out of your imagination, a poem full of your feelings, characters you conjure up while watching a crowd, there is a type of personal satisfaction involved. If your effort is then rewarded by positive affirmation from your readers it is very gratifying. But as always in life people have various opinions, some will praise your work, some will give harsh criticism, some will merely flip the page. I will agree in this global world fueled by the internet you are bombarded with so much information distrubuted from minds all over the world, its hard to feel you can have an original thought ! Yet writers do it by looking at the world from their own perspective, putting their own twist on a story, their own set of emotions and experiences, their imagination to work. (@Tramsloof where are you ? Emmy is getting wordy haha)
For instance I enjoyed your plot idea for your story. Although I have read similar stories you put your own twist and vibe on it, so I would definitely read it. Your story about the frog in the well and Kuri Ono's reference on same blog was a coincidence but both stories were enjoyable ! Yours evoked a sense of loneliness and alienation and so did hers but they were completely different stories. So that is a perfect example of two people taking one theme and writing two different stories based on that theme (I am not an English professor but at 1 AM I pretend to be haha)..
Anyway my point is we are all unique in our own way even though as humans we share commonalities.. So writers take a seed in their imagination.. plant it.. water it ..nuture it and harvest it. Sometimes it is a beautiful flower sometimes it withers and dies so they replant. The process in itself can be rewarding and when someone admires your garden it feels great(terrible analogy but you get my drift right ? ) Tadah !

      Haha nice ending :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

For me, writing is a lifeline. An escape. A reprieve. A magic portal to everywhere yet at the same time nowhere at all. But writing is writing. Are interpretations really necessary?
