Some of you probably know this, but I like to write. I've been posting a story I am working on here on NUF, "An Angel's Thesis." It's on it's second or third draft, and with barely any editing to it, but I've given it hours of my life.
A while back, I thought of using it to practice my Japanese. Therefore, for the past few weeks, I have been translating passages from it into Japanese. I've had a lot of help from members of the community and discord on this. I've also reference jisho a lot. Whenever I come across a phrase or kanji I don't know, I write it down in my notes. I wouldn't be able to read what I've written if I didn't have these notes.
Long story short, I recently finished writing a page. Some of you may have seen the post as well. That said, today, I decided to ask some co-workers, Japanese school teachers, to edit it so that it would be more natural. Turns out that some of the kanji I found were very archaic or difficult. There was also the problem that some phrases I wrote didn't make sense in Japanese. Other teachers got involved too. What I thought would only take a few minutes to go over took almost an hour.
It was a nerve wracking, embarrassing, exciting, and overall enjoyable experience~
