Discussion What's your acceptable novel's rating?

I would argue that the fake 1* ratings isn't as bad as the fake 5* ratings though, the former just risk having people miss a novel while the latter can trick people into wasting time on something they don't enjoy.

Otherwise, I always go what is said in the reviews. If I find the flawed, I try reading 50-100 chapters. For Xianxia novels which is my primary target for Chinese stories. I tend to wait till there is around a 100~Chapters. Because that gives me a better feel of the story since the Author in question probably sussed out some of the steps he want the story progress as.

For example, some Harem Xianxia tend to start quite Early then continue progress rather than being empty the first 100 chapter of female involvement. And so on, so forth.

WMW for example, took more than 300 chapters till the MC did the deed himself. Which gives me the impression that Relationships(sexual) aren't really the aim of the novel.

Compared to Martial Peak or World Defying Dan God where the Female join into the story quite early.

 

Well the rating can't really be trust so if it have at least 3.5, i think it's good to see how it is but if it's under well at this stage it's probably not good

 

Ratings rarely reflect a novels true picture.I usually decide based on reviews and release frequency.

 

Don't really care about the ratings. As long as it contains the genre I seek for, I'll just give it a look for about 10 chapters first before deciding anything else.

Although, I'm more affected by the release speed. If the novel is released very, very slowly like 1 month per chapter, then no. I refuse to die from the withdrawal symptoms from a good novel

 

I've been on RRL, and frankly anything with less than a 4 just isn't very good (especially the grammar) people throw out 5* like pennies

 

Low, high ratings? It´s like asking small or big boobs which is better XD des~

 

I'm going to make a example of why you shouldn't follow stars http://www.novelupdates.com/series/ancient-godly-monarch/ this novel is just as good as most other CN novels out there besides the Top 10, and it has 3,8 average because of the author and not because of the novel. The star rating system is only a general guideline and 3,5average usually means there is something controversial about it like AGM the author's other novel got a lot of hate and it spilled over.

 

Almost never bother even looking at rating cause there are trolls
I look at description than tags if not enough than read several reviews. Afterwards if I found it interesting enough to give it try but if there too few chapters I ll put novel in the stockpiling list instead of reading list

 

more important how many people read it, rather than the rating... just give it a go, read 20cptrs and drop if necessary

It doesn't really matter, really. I've enjoyed novels with 2stars more than some 4,5 bullshit novels. Then again, it's just based on your own opinion. I guess different people enjoy different things, taste things.

I just read whatever I want without looking at the ratings. People tend to have differing opinions on things so I don't pay them any attention.

 

Dont look at them but mostly I like my series to have atleast 20 chapters.

 

At first it was novels with the highest ratings then I read some but mostly were shits. Then I forced myself to atleast read those with lower ratings and some was better. The rating was affected by some shortminded reviwers just simply reviewed the novel due to the synopsis/cover/ or even tags. The collective mindset that 3/5 ratings would get lower ratings also because most people rated it down are hating a bunch of good novels.

Edit: But really. Nowadays is I checked if the translated chapters is worth a binge before reading it. If the chapters are not worth binging then I put it on a separate list until it reaches my quota.

 

People have terrible taste and keep on rating awful novels high and good novels low.

Heck, all the novels with a literal rapist literal retard MC have a 4.5+ stars review.

I look at detailed reviews instead of ratings.

 

Don't bother looking at ratings. We all got different tastes so a novel with low rating from someone might get a higher rating from me.

I don't go by rating mostly. The only time I will reject something because of the rating is if it has a rating of less than 2 and all the reviews are negative.
