Yeah but I'm saying that it's not just the authors, the authors and Qidian have given their permission. I should've put "Authors and Qidian". :p I knew I missed something in that comment.

the author retains the rights to their work, but as to the actual publication of it, no they don't.

if someone wants to make a move about Desolate era, they need to talk to the author. But if they want to make a paper back book, they need to talk to qidian and the author.

To my knowledge, the authors write and Qidian publish for them, while the authors do possibly still hold the right for translations, I believe the original content is with Qidian themselves, and so Qidian too has a say, a big say I would assume. It's similar to English novels that have been translated I would think, the publisher is still the original publisher, but they've simply hired a translation company to translate properly and they are given credit and revenue (x%) for their work.

if it's not Qidian and not WW, then could it be this?

    just pure speculation here:

Gravitytales want a higher share of the ad revenue. Which mean less ad revenue for the translators.

Gravitytales need the ad revenue to pay for the license.

Translators say "no" and want to leave.

Translator of Martial World did say that the "talks were ongoing for a few weeks."

So maybe negotiation between Gravitytales and the translators broke down and they are leaving.

once again, this is pure speculation on my part. Take it with a HUGE grain of salt.

p.s. Someone on reddit speculate the same thing

Maybe in the near future, the reasons will come to light and we will all know what is behind this exodus.

If you do not know about these sites then you are living under a rock
With Gravitytales they have lost alot of there most popular novels due to qidian.
Said novels have gone over to Wuxiaworld
The people who are translating the novels dont want to leave so people should not take it personal.
But the reason I made this thread is to see what you think on what im about to ask
Should Gravitytales combine with Wuxiaworld into 1 great site?

I don't know really, that's up to the people in charge of the sites, not us. And I don't have the information to know whether or not it would be better all in all.

No, for me it will be a monopoly like what Disney and Apple do. We need a power balance to make a peaceful world and make other translator group a chance to make their website big.

How would that be? How many they can handle depends on how many translators they have, how many editors, how much money they have and which stories they have licenses for, nothing else.

GravityTales has Korean novels and Original novels on their front page while Wuxiaworld only hosts Chinese novels. I find such a merger to be very unlikely due to complications.
